I have lived in Southern New Mexico for fourteen years, but I guess some of you knew that because you mailed me your petition letters.

snabbott

Well, we didn't know the 14 years part. :P

That's like the opposite of Grey's Anatomy!  They so fork up the Seattle area names and screw up the coffee orders. Mocha-latte?  No such thing!

Fraiser botched it worse. That view from the guy's apartment - impossible. The Crane brothers would have stuck out like sore thumbs in a city where the CEO is usually wearing Dockers and a polo shirt.

At least Grays can be excused because of Pill Hill (Madison Avenue), especially if you're looking at the place as an expy of Harbor-Zoo (Harborview, most famous for being a first-class trauma center).

Yes, I also live in The Emerald City...not the suburbs, Seattle proper.

I know! :D  I was so excited to read that!  No other Pacific Northwesterns post here.

I'm...kind of close to the Pacific Northwesterners?

Not in Seattle, but can I still count?  ;)

EDIT: Oh, a Canadian!  Yeah, you're right.  You're a Pacific Northwesterner! :D

Was in Virginia for school, but recently (as in last Saturday) graduated and moved back to good ol' North Carolina.

Oooh, where did you go to school?

As for me, I'm a life-long resident of Northern Virginia. :P

I grew up in Connecticut (more or less) and have a slight New England accent to show for it.  My friends and family laugh at me for it...  But yeah, New England for ever!

Though I currently live in Pittsburgh, so I don't say that too loudly.  The Steelers fans will kill me...

Haids1987

Haha!  At least you HAVE an accent.  Over here on the west coast we have no accents at all.  Boring!

No one thinks they have an accent, because however they speak is what is normal. You probably would have an accent to my ear. Similarly, to someone in the Deep South, you would have an accent, and they would be the ones without an accent.

And btw, it's "dialect" not "accent" for speakers within the same country.

Ummm... I think a dialect is actually a different version of the language, not just a difference in pronunciations.

Naw, over here in the Washington, Oregon, California area we are accent free. :P

B'rrr is right. Unless everyone speaks a language exactly the same, accents exist.

That is absolutely correct! However, there are also various American dialects!

I'd like to put Cray, Cat, and me all in a row and listen to the differences in our speech saying the same sentence.  How interesting that would be...
