Big C from Cauney island

Cool to hear someone with a passion for Aliens.  I've loved that movie my whole life.  I'll go ahead and buy Alien 3 and see if its better. But yes - AVP movie was horrible. Both of them. When that girl makes weapons out of the alien body and then her and the predator run off together? Seriously, whole film killed in that moment.  But again, I expect it from an aliens movie rated pg-13.  Now, the AVP video games is another story. THOSE were awesome.  And the new one by Sega is decent, great multiplayer.  But, I digest (I know I mispelled it. It's from ALI G first season).  I actually went to Fox Studios in Sydney Australia and saw all the original props for Aliens and Predator. The full size alien queen and power loader were there as well as the marine gear. Dude, that queen must have taken forever to make. Got to be at least 10 feet tall, it was huge.  The eggs as well.  As an aliens fan, I was in heaven. All the original costumes too.

Damar

That would be incredible seeing the original props from Alien.  I always felt that the Alien films had one of the most realistic portrayals of the future.  All the machinery looked oily and outdated, everything was cramped and gloomy, and if you went out into space, you had to sleep for a long, long time.  And that in turn leads to anyone who would want to go out into space being not quite right.

And yeah, that scene in AVP killed me too.  Particularly when she used the alien head as an arm shield.  I had to hold myself back from screaming at the screen.  The aliens have acid for blood!  She should have pulled back a smoldering stump after pulling something like that!  And in general, the movie ignored the acid for blood point unless it was convenient to use.  It drove me crazy!  And of course the Predators see in infrared, and we know from Aliens that aliens don't show up on infrared at all!  The worst part of the film was that I was actually prepared to sit back, shut my brain off, and just root for the aliens.  I knew it wouldn't be good, so I figured I might as well let the inner fanboy out and enjoy the aliens butchering some Predators (I can't stand the Predators, but that's a different rant altogether.)  But the movie failed even at presenting decent fight scenes.  How horrible is it that the best fight scene was brought to you by the movie character that had cancer and was dying?  Bishop brought the only bit of class that movie had.  But I digress...

Yes, I highly recommend Alien 3 special edition.  There were a few changes that weren't as good.  The alien popped out of a cow, not a dog, and there's no chestburster at the end (everything else is the same though.)  But it's all worth it for the other bits that get put back in.  Particularly an entire subplot involving the alien being captured and Golic (the crazy prisoner who called it a "dragon") becoming obsessed with the alien.

Another one I just remembered: "2001: A Space Odyssey".

I'm a bit of a cinephile, so it'd be hard for me to pick out one movie in particular that I could label "All-time Favorite". I was intrigued with Inglorious Basterds and the direction it took with its historical-fiction. I laughed at The Hangover, as I'm sure everybody who saw it did. I liked Inception, despite the massive case of hypnophobia that I obtained the night I saw the movie. I recently saw (500) Days of Summer. At first glance, I thought it was going to be a chick flick, but it had the right implementation of romance and comedy. I could recommend it to a guy.

One of my long-running favorites has to be Back to the Future Part II. That movie impressed me quite a bit. It was also interesting to see how "2015" would look like. Of course, that was the imagination of the 80s. We're cutting it pretty close to 2015, and I still don't have my hoverboard.  >:(

I feel the same way as you. There are far too many good movies to pick a favorite, too many to even make a list.  :P

YAAAAAAAAAAAY!  Other people here like my two favorite movies! :D  Have you seen "Strictly Ballroom?"  It was Luhrmann's first movie.  If you like the other two, you'd love that one too. :)

After loving two of the red curtain trilogy, I was excited to watch Strictly Ballroom. But I must confess I was disappointed. Nowhere as good as Moulin Rouge.

The game should also end with Graham remaining silent in an act of brave defiance while being drawn and quartered a la Braveheart.

Heh...and I'm sure there would be room to slip in a Brokeback Mountain homage as well.  >D

Yeah, you're right, it's not as good as Moulin Rouge.  But then again, Moulin Rouge is the best movie ever made, so how can you really top that? ;D

Haha, at the end of Episode 2 Graham should snuggle Alexander's cape and say, "Alex, I swear..."

I'm watching Night at the Museum 2: Battle of the Smithsonian. I thought it was gonna be bad, but I'm actually liking it more than the first one. A rare case when the sequel outdoes the original. Fascinating . . .

Night at the Museum is fun.  :)  I enjoyed both those movies, even the sequel with the ridiculously obnoxious Amelia Earheart.

I'm updating more great movies. I remember that I liked the new Sherlock Holmes movie (with Robert Downey Jr.). It had some real charm to it, that can't be expressed in words. The way Robert Downey Jr. applied a touch of sarcasm and satire to every situation really brought out the character of Sherlock Holmes. Not to mention, the twist blindsided me. I was simply surprised how everything came together. Highly recommended.

I also just got back from seeing Easy A with Emma Stone. The movie opened with a hysterical scenario that built up to a drama-filled climax. There's not much to say about the movie itself. It had its funny parts, and it had it's serious moments, but the way it came together was flawless. While no one element stood out, I still have to give this movie another recommendation. It's also good to see that Emma Stone is starring as a main character for once. Ever since Superbad, she's been a supporting actor, and I think this was a great movie for her to star in. Two thumbs up.
