KQ fangames?

You know, there really aren't that many KQ fangames out there! There are tons of SQ fangames, but almost all the KQ fangames are remakes, and hardly any are original ones.

I was thinking, what sort of Kq fangame would YOU like to play or make? I mean, after TSL is all released, we won't have much KQ stuff left. I'd like to see maybe a prequel to the whole series starring Graham's father, or maybe a prequel starring Valanice. Maybe even another interquel between KQ1 and 2 or KQ4 and 5! :D

I know there's been a lot of trouble with legal things with Activision going on lately, but I dont think it'd hurt just to pass around some ideas. (I wish I could make a fangame of my own, but I don't know anyuthing about programming.)  :'(

Hmm, actually there are more KQ fangames than SQ fan games completed as far as I know... But most are pretty short, and not necessarily classic style adventure games, or remakes.

Here are the completed ones;
*King's Quest ZZT (an interquel between 5-6)
*King's Quest ZZT2 (an interquel between 5-6)
*King's Quest 2 1/4: Breast Intentions (an interequel between 2 and 3)
*Owl's Quest (a sequel set after MOE)
*King's Quest 2: Romancing the Stones (this game is so different from the original its pretty much an original game)
*King's Quest 1 VGA
*King's Quest 3 VGA.
*King's Quest V: The Text Adventure

Space Quest has;

*Space Quest 0
*Space Quest: The Lost Chapter
*Space Quest IV.5: Roger Wilco and the Voyage Home.

If you know of any other finished Space Quest fan games let me know.
Well, ya, King's Quest is on Earth. Daventry is very old city from a long time ago. It's in ruins now and people aren't quite sure exactly where it used to be. There are some archaeologists searching through the ruins, they think they know its Daventry. But its somewhere on Earth."-Roberta Williams http://kingsquest.wikia.com/wiki/File:Daventryisearth.ogg

Well, there's this game called The Silver Lining that seems pretty interesting...;)

Personally I'd love to see further KQ games, or someone else's take on the future of the series.

You mention Graham's father--I don't know about that idea but personally I'd love to see a game based around Graham's adventures before KQ1--The adventures that made him known as the bravest and noblest Knight in Daventry. Or MoE remade in some format--That's a dream project of my own.

Isn't that game called Peasant's Quest?

No, Peasant's Quest is about a totally different character/mythos. It's a parody of KQ and the Black Cauldron and refers as well to Legend of Zelda and other games. It's not a prequel or even a spin off.

I'm not sure, but I think that was a joke. ;D

Yeah I was just seeing who I could snag with it first.

I woulda been on that like white on rice if I'd seen it first. :P

Though Peasant's Quest is an frickin' sweeeeeeet game.  What other game requires you to be cloaked, dirty, and on fire in order to win?

I mentioned TSL in my post. Did you really think I'd be on these boards and not know about TSL?  ???

I'm sorry, I don't know that many, but i think there used to be a lot of them on the web a few years ago. The problem is, most sites that they were on are gone now (Geocities RIP). :(

Well I know there wre alot of fan games in development, but most were closed down, or the developers lost interest. thus they were never finished.

I've seen a crew Magic Mirror that wants to tackle KQ4, and possibly do a "remix" like AGD did with 2. It's hard to tell the status of the project, though, as the boards still have some activity, but the blog's out of date. I'd totally volunteer to help with software testing or writing there.

Has anyone ever played the other completed KQ fangames (not meaning the KQ1 - 3, since those are a given), but the more obscure ones?

MusicallyInspired

Space Quest had a ton of fangames....just not adventures (though there are a handful of unfinished SQ fangames that have demos out there). Orat Soccer, Orat Soccer VGA, Eureka Trash Pickup, Escape From Vohaul's Asteroid, Aliens Stole My Plunger, and tons more that I just don't remember.

Well if you are talking about mini-games of that sort, TSL team made a handful of those for KQ, LOL

Ahh, well Breast Intentions falls just short of soft porn imo, :p... It's ok... has some bizarre puzzles. Its not raunchi or offensive though, but I warn you ahead of time. Lot of stuff with breast pumps, and baby milk.

Owl's Quest is amusing, the guy who did the voice for Cedric is pretty spot on. The game is about as long as TSL's Episode 1, 3x the puzzles  :suffer:. the site that hosted the game no longer has it. I have a copy backed up though. Basically it's setup is a prequel to TSL. With Cedric trying to get to the "birthday party", after he received an invintation.

The King's Quest ZZTs are actually pretty well done, and actually rather fun... If you can handle looking at ascii figures representing characters. The games could probably improved on if they were given special edition treatment and turned into a more traditional RPG style adventure. Maybe something with Final Fantasy type sprites.

KQ5 text adventure, never really played it very far. Never really saw the point, LOL.

There is also a demo version of another KQ3 remake, called A Heir Raising Tale. I have a copy, the original link has been long dead. I've always wante dto host it somewhere. It was essentially going to be a complete remix of KQ3, with a bit more of linear plot, more events with the Wizard, more puzzles.
