Good to know!  I don't actually know where any of them are; I've only heard about them in text (although had never heard of KQV Text Adventure before!), but it's nice to know someone has actually played them!

The links are on the omnipedia, can't say they all work at this point. But if you feel like playing them you can get them there.
Well, ya, King's Quest is on Earth. Daventry is very old city from a long time ago. It's in ruins now and people aren't quite sure exactly where it used to be. There are some archaeologists searching through the ruins, they think they know its Daventry. But its somewhere on Earth."-Roberta Williams http://kingsquest.wikia.com/wiki/File:Daventryisearth.ogg

Come to think of it, didn't someone here make a TSL fangame where Graham goes on a quest to convince Vivendi to take back the C&D?
It was a platformer, and I didn't get very far in it. (Dang crocodiles) Does anyone still have it somewhere?

I've had a few ideas bouncing in my head for fangames I'll probably never make... :P
A Mega Graham game would be fun, but I don't have any programming skills, and there don't seem to be any decent, simple 2D platforming engines I can use for it.

I've also thought of some kind of Sierra crossover RPG Maker game thingem...the spriting would be a nightmare, and I only have the vaguest idea what the plot would be. :P

Jafar, himm rpg maker, that would be great idea, to remake the King's Quest ZZT series into something more visually easy on the eyes... Maybe expand the plot.

Yeah - I think someone made it for the present contest. I have a copy, but I'm not sure how to get it to you. It's ~ 1Mb

If you can figure out where to host it, hopefully permanently... It would probably be worth creating an an KQ wiki article with said link ;).

I have a few things I wish I could find a free hosting service, to upload for purpose of thewiki.

Hey, I found an interesting quote from Lorelei Shannon in the file kq.hlp in the 2nd KQ collection:
QuoteI would love to know about the pre-history of Daventry. What were Daventry stone-agers like? Did they have magic, or were they just regular hunter-gatherer sorts?
I don't think I've ever seen a prehistoric version of a fantasy world like the one in KQ...I think a short fangame set in that time would be really neat.

There's three of them, they live in Tamir, and share a single eyeball between them.

I have a free website with byethost - it seems to be a pretty decent hosting service. I haven't taken the time to figure out how to allow people to download files like that, though. I tried uploading the Cedric torture "patch" to the RC1 demo, but I got a Forbidden error when I tried to download it.

Of course, the TSL website would be perfect, since that's where it was originally hosted. ::)

Among the various issues I have with this KQ9 VGA project.... did they NOT notice that the game isn't called King's Quest IX? Like, for a reason?

I imagine they did not. Nice to see they have the ability to use a KQV sprite, KQVI backgrounds, and TSL voices and music smashed together in an entirely unoriginal demo though. :P

Part of that is because they reuse the title screen from KQV and KQ6 :p... Rather than create a new title screen. It looks like they are mostly ripping graphics and modifying them from early KQ games. It's not particularly original, LOL.

Too much time, too little creativity?

Seriously, if they have the time to make a VGA remake they should do KQ4 or MoE. Or make their OWN KQ sequel!

Perhaps its a protest, against TSL? A parody of sorts?

Speaking of Magic Mirror's KQIV, is it canceled?  Or do the devs need a few extra paws?

I think its on hold indefinitely. They haven't updated in like two years.

Although speaking of creativity, there is a arguement that any remakes lack a high level of creativity since  they are derivitive works (compared to something completely original)... They have kind of borderline creativity. Of course its not to the level of lack of creativity as this guys game...

If you read his plans, he actually wants to go for a TSL special edition when its all done :p... An expansion to the game.

As for MOE, I'd rather someone go about making a patch to make it run on modern games, before thinking about making a remake... It would probably be easier... :P... Once that's done then think about a fan remake... :p
