Music is dead
Today marks the one-year anniversary of Michael Jackson's  death, and many teen celebrities are remembering the King of Pop and what he did for music as a whole. Although it will be hard for another artist to accomplish all that Michael did in his career, Jessica Jarrell says Justin Bieber may have a chance.

"I am not sure if there will be there will never be another Michael Jackson but it is possible," she tells JSYK. "Justin Bieber is definitely on track to fill that void."

One year later, Michael's passing is still affecting his many fans and admirers. Jessica remembers exactly where she was when he heard the news. "I was on my way home from Forever 21 and it was devastating and I couldn't stop crying," the L.A. native says.

Justin is also thinking of MJ on this day. "A year ago today we lost the Greatest Entertainer that was and will ever will be..." he wrote on his Facebook page. "...Michael set the bar for all of us now and to come. He is the KING!! RIP MJ."

Do you think Justin could be as accomplished as Michael in the years to come? How are you remembering the King of Pop today? Let us know in the comments below.

Justin Beiber the new Michael Jackson?  Not by a long shot.

but over all dont you think this generation  does not have real music

Cez

I wouldn't say that. They have their own music, but whether it's not appealing to your ear, that's a complete different thing. It's not your generation, so you don't understand it, the same way the generation previous to yours did not understand your music (or said the same as you are doing now).

It's simply just the times. I never liked Michael Jackson's music for example, but it would be unfair for me to say that's not music. It is music, just music I don't like.

Same with Justin Beiber. I don't even know what he sings (I hardly listen to the radio anymore), but I guess a bunch of people like what he sings.

I don't think that he'll be the next Michael Jackson, however. Those are titles very hard to replace. Madonna hasn't found a match yet, for example. They said Britney, but Britney couldn't hold a candle. Now they say Lady Gaga, and I see the potential, but these titles are really really hard to knock off or at least reach.

I agree - I wouldn't say there isn't ANY good music today. I think when you look back, you mostly only remember the "classic" songs. Most of the music from any period isn't going to be "classic."

I also think it would be impossible to predict the "next" Michael Jackson (or whoever) - only time will tell.
