Was there any puzzles involving the Zodiac or some kind of symbols in MoE? I remember jumping from symbol to symbol at some point in the Dimension of Death--Anyone know what in mythology those symbols or the puzzle might've referred to? It was similar to KQ6's puzzle in the Catacombs except I remember if you jumped on the wrong symbol you were sent back to the beginning of the puzzle, not killed.

We really need to categorize all of MoE's literary and mythological influences in references. We seem to have done so for the most part with the other games, or, in the other games, the influences are much more clear.

All I remember is that I did that entire puzzle through trial-and-error, as opposed to realizing where the correct order of the symbols was located. :P

It's funny how you find you enjoy your life when you're happy to be alive.

I could be wrong, since it's been a while since I played it--but I always thought that puzzle was one of those "trial and error" types.  At least, I can't ever remember there being a distinct solution to it laid out for you, unlike the KQ6 labyrinth puzzle, where you had that poem in the guidebook to the green isles that mentioned the symbols.

*Ninja'd!  ;)  But yeah--I remember doing it that way, too.

I remember it seeing it earlier--The symbols were near the River of Death or whatever it was called. I believe there was a clue of some sort earlier in the game.

The Dimension of Death was my favorite part of KQ8. With the heavy Aztec influence , the symbolism (I remember the Hall of Judgement with the feather and heart I think it was), the music, etc--It was awesome.

I hope someone makes the game Windows 7 compatible.

It's above the doorway entrance to DOD, IIRC.
Well, ya, King's Quest is on Earth. Daventry is very old city from a long time ago. It's in ruins now and people aren't quite sure exactly where it used to be. There are some archaeologists searching through the ruins, they think they know its Daventry. But its somewhere on Earth."-Roberta Williams http://kingsquest.wikia.com/wiki/File:Daventryisearth.ogg

Some of the symbols were planet symbols, iirc...but I never figured out any of the clues either; I trial-and-errored it.
So what if I am, huh? Anyways, I work better when I'm drunk. It makes me fearless! If I see a bad guy, I'll just point my sword at him and saaaaaaaaaay, "Hey! Bad guy! You're not s'posed to be here! Go home or I'll stick you with my sword 'til you go, 'Ouch! I'm dead!' Ah-ha-ha!" Ha-ha. *hic* See? Ain't no one gonna be messin' wit' ol', Benny!

Yeah, they were on the doorway/portal entrance to the DoD, all 5 symbols...

And if you stepped on the wrong one, it sent you back to the beginning of the puzzle, as opposed to KQVI, in the catacombs, where you stepped on the wrong symbol, you had an arrow shot at you because it was booby-trapped.
