Eh, I've had a bazillion dreams and maybe 3 or 4 nightmares. It balances out nicely. (For me, anyway :P)

Also, you could be having dreams and just not remembering any of them. Dream memories tend to disappear really fast for some reason. :P

I seem to only have dreams when I'm not on my usual bed. That's probably because I wake up more intermittently during the night, which is supposedly important for dream retention, versus at home where I sleep like a brick.

It's different for everyone. The majority of my dreams are nightmares, and the others tend to be incomprehensible. I also can remember a majority of my dreams (the nightmares anyway). I've been meaning to see a dream analyst to see if there's something wrong with me.  :S

Interesting article, atec. Especially the part about gamers controlling dreams & fighting nightmares. I don't feel like I exactly do that, but there are times I feel like I manage to exert a definite conscious influence over my dreams. And when I do have nightmares, I realize what they are and force myself awake before they get too bad.

I wish I could combat my nightmares, preferably with a lightsaber, or a keyblade. Either one will work.

When I was younger, I had a lot of nightmares. At first, I learned that I could force myself awake during them, but later I just started lucid dreaming. I was generally aware that it was a dream and I could just exert willpower and make everything go away.

Though as I've gotten older, I haven't been able to do that. It's upsetting because I can feel some conscious thought, like "Huh, that's weird. That doesn't make any sense why that would be happening." but my dream manages to convince me that it is. XD

I have the same problems with nightmares, and since they're usually based on real life, it's even more convincing.

My dreams, on the other hand, are usually about video games or have a great deal to do with them.  I had one dream where I was on the beach of the Isle of Wonders and reading to the clams something about Doctor Who with the Dangling Participle curled up on my lap.
I have my cake and eat it too, until it's gone.  Then I can't do either.

Lucid dream <3  Best way to combat nightmares!  You can still recognize dreams, just a little more effort than most have time for.  I haven't kept up the practice myself.

I wish I could have more lucid dreams. There are times that I know I'm dreaming, but I can't wake up, even when something bad goes down. I had one dream that lasted for a very long time (it felt like an eternity), and although I knew it was a dream, it continued to go on forever.

I only managed lucid dreaming once when I was very young and was able to stop a dream from devolving into a nightmare.  Never been able to do it since.  At least not that I remember.  I typically don't remember dreams.  But then, most people don't since when we sleep we drift through different stages of sleep and you have to go through stages to get to REM (dream) sleep, and then go through the stages as you come out of REM sleep.  So people typically don't wake up from dreams and don't tend to remember them.  Plus, my dreams just tend to be weird.  And not fun and memorable weird.  Just completely disjointed.  Like if you asked a hyper three year old to tell you a story about something that happened.  That level of disjointed.  My brain just can't be bothered to remember my dreams even if it wanted to.

Wooo for lucid dreaming! I have alot of lucid dreams, some about Oblivion im back in the game for real or in fallout 3 lol. Somtimes I let them play out untill somthing happens as in I shoot a character and nothing happens lol, i take control and finish off the character or person lol. When i was playing FEAR i had alot of dreams about that mostly ones where I died lol, since i played it through on the higest difficulty.

I almost always dream about adventure game puzzles if I'm stuck in one. :P I usually solve them soon thereafter. :)
