Someone mentioned the padlock. For some reason when trying to summon the mermaids, I tried using it and he DROPED it in the ocean. Is that some easter egg or a throw away joke (Yes I was making a pun. :P)

Yeah, I did that too!  I couldn't figure out why I was allowed to drop the padlock into the ocean.  I figured that it was something sparkly that would attract the nymphs, but it didn't attract them and I just stared at the screen with a confused expression, which I guess is natural when you've just been allowed to dump a piece of your inventory into the ocean for no discernible reason.

Lambonius

Yeah, I'm curious as to why Graham is able to do that as well (since I did it my first time through and had to reload a save in order to get the suffer.)  Was it part of some joke or unfinished egg that we're all missing?  Someone from the team care to clarify?

KatieHal
Partially to show you couldn't just drop something in there and they'd show up, partially because the padlock is otherwise only used for getting the Suffer (and nonessential to the game itself, so you weren't losing anything you'd need and thus give yourself a dead end), and partially because it's fun to throw stuff into the ocean. :)
Also...
Pick up some ocean water from the Isle of Wonder with your bare hands.  Shenanigans ensue.  Cliff's Notes version: The narrator tries to make a funny, Graham is not amused, the narrator feels unappreciated, the TSL staff shows up, and Graham walks.  And you die.  Kind of.  For a second.  ADIOS!
Oh.  My.  GOSH!  That was sheer brilliance!  Thanks, guys, for remembering our forum jokes in this amazing game! !!!

that's a good point.

I just found that one.  It shouldn't be that easy.

I don't recall there being any inside jokes in that whole routine. Of course, it's funnier if you know who the various speakers are, but an outsider would find it funny as well, if I am remembering it correctly.

There were some inside jokes, but they aren't baffling or anything--the nonsense about ninjas, cookies, etc, were forum-things from a while back. To a non-regular forum-goer, just silliness really. (which is about all it amounts to when you get down to it anyways!)

Yeah, it was fine, really.  ;)  I wouldn't have put such an extended egg so out in the open, but eh, different strokes.  :)

Agreed, it probably should have been better-hidden.

I've been around for a while (~2005), and I didn't really get any of the ninja/bonsai tree stuff. I got the sense that they were inside jokes from the forums, but I still found them amusing even without getting the references. I probably would have hidden it better if it were up to me, but I don't really feel strongly about it. I think the silliness helps to counter some of the dark tone of the story.

Eh heh. ;] I actually didn't mean to quote that particular Easter egg, I meant to quote the Suffer one. :P

But the one I quoted WAS  one of my favorites, actually.  It was cool hearing everyone's voices, and seeing Graham break the fourth wall. :D

Who all was in that Easter Egg anyway, besides Graham and the Amy?
So what if I am, huh? Anyways, I work better when I'm drunk. It makes me fearless! If I see a bad guy, I'll just point my sword at him and saaaaaaaaaay, "Hey! Bad guy! You're not s'posed to be here! Go home or I'll stick you with my sword 'til you go, 'Ouch! I'm dead!' Ah-ha-ha!" Ha-ha. *hic* See? Ain't no one gonna be messin' wit' ol', Benny!

"the Amy" lol

I recall Katie and Cez as well. The others I didn't recognize.

Heh, whoops. ;]
I admit it! I'm in love with the Amy! I'm in love and I don't care who knows it! ;D

I thought the Amy was a bit too sarcastic, but she has a great voice and when she's not joking around, she makes a great KQ narrator.
