I don't remember. I became a member in late 2008 but mostly lurked. I'd check on the project every few months  and then leave again.  I came back fully when I found out the game had been revived.

Fall 2002. Depressed college grad, jobless, living at home, fairly recently dumped & heartbroken, desperately seeks something, anything, to fill her time. She plays old computer games. Beats a few for the first time, finally! She pokes around online. She finds a website...it calls itself an unofficial King's Quest sequel. She is interested! She wanders about the site, she finds they are looking for a staff writer. "Hey," she thinks, "I'm a writer! Or at least, I want to be. And I love King's Quest. And I dreamed about writing Sierra games when I was a kid. What the hell!" She applies. Her application piece is an article about the Isle of the Sacred Mountain. They like it. They like her! She's hired! Or--accepted! Whatever, the point is, the rest is history! XD

Oh, and you'll all finally get to read the IoS article I wrote eight years in Issue 5 of the Four Winds.

I joined back in 2008 but lurked around for maybe two months before I actually joined. My sister worked as a secretary for the Agriculture department on Campus and was bored one day and just googled Kings quest 9, just to see if there was one Roberta made. Next thing I know, my phone is filled with text messages, as I was in a meeting. We found the remakes of 1,2,3 shortly there after-wards and still waiting on the 4th one.

I always felt weird being apart of the forum back then, I was super shy, and everyone was talking about the first C&D, I felt bad that I missed helping with that one, I think that is was drove me so hard when Save TSL was started. With all of these new people around, I'm starting to feel like 2008 was a life time ago when it really wasn't. Wow, how far we've come.  :D

This is a really nice story. Thanks for sharing, and I can't wait to read your piece about the IoS.

Thanks doon! :) It was one of the best things to ever happen to me. Not to mention something I really, really needed at that time in my life, too!

I'm not sure how I first heard about it, but I remember seeing the website several years ago saying that the game had been hit with a Cease and Desist. Then I forgot about it entirely until a little while before Episode 1 came out.
I think I was reminded of it when browsing the Infamous Adventures forum for information about their upcoming Space Quest 2 remake.

Back in 1999, my brother and I looked up King's Quest IX online, and we found a website (can't remember their name) working on a KQIX game. I still remember the screenshot they had on their homepage. It was the ferry and dock all repaired. I remember that the graphics were sort of cartoonish and that the ferry had a bright red roof.

Anyway, I've followed KQIX for the past 11 years through the team change, two cease-and-desists, and finally till the release of the game. Needless to say, I am super-excited and totally geeking out right now !!!
(my brother kind of lost hope after the first 5 years :-\)

And, by the way, TSL team...you guys totally rock!!! I've been waiting so long for this game, and now it's finally here and it's absolutely amazing :sweetheart: Thank you so much!!! I can not even begin to imagine how much work and sacrifice you guys put into this game to make it a reality. Just know that you've made a lot of people very happy ;D

Google.  I was actually looking for the King's Quest Omnipedia and just typed "King's Quest" in the search bar.  Lo and behold, one of the first sites to pop up was "The Silver Lining: A fan-created sequel to King's Quest" or some such thing.

I was like, "Whaaaaaa!" and hopped on that like white on rice.  I remember being a little intimidated, though, to join the forums, and registered but didn't actually post for like four months.  Stupid Hailey! >:(

I'm so glad I'm here, though.  This is not like a typical forum, it's like a family. :)

Back in yesteryear around 2004-2005 I got really interested in Let's Plays while moaning over how boring college was. (around end of year 1.) I was filled with new light and thought, oh wow this is different. I kind of like this.  Eventually I made it over to a certain Let's Player by the name of LateBlt who was playing Quest for Glory at the time. It reminded me of the good old days when I used to play all these point and click adventure games. So I did a small search when I came upon Kings Quest 9. I thought huh, this looks kinda good for a fangame. Eventually the first trailer came out and gave me goosebumps. I instantly wanted to play the game.

Time passes... Cease and Desist is posted and I hold my breath hearing the team is putting together a care package. Cease and Desist lifted!!!

More time passes. I graduate with my Bachelor's in Graphic Design... Then one night in the Yugioh Abridged Chatroom. Kroze and my cousin are busy talking about something. Something which my cousin immediately alerts me to. ANOTHER CEASE AND DESIST. BY ACTIVISION? NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOooooo... (Cue total rage fest and King's Quest Conversation.) An hour later... private message. Information is passed to me. I smile.

More time passes... Go to otakon, had fun, then I come home and watch some of LateBlt's videos. There's something there in the related vids. NO REALLY, IT IS?!!!1! YES! OMG OMG OMG! Fangasmed and played it on the first night. And sometime later was the whistle contest along with episode 2 and here I am.

really don't remember, actually. :P
