This is nothing but a big scam!
« on: September 19, 2010, 02:48:41 AM »
This project is a total joke. What where you thinking? I've played Episode1 and I have played Episode 2. How many puzzles did Episode 1 have? I'll tell you: None. How many puzzles did Episode 2 have? Eleven. ELEVEN! Yes, I've counted them. Seriously guys, is there something you didn't understand about the concept of adventure games? Your second Episode is shorter than most AGS beginner games! What happend to the rich gameplay you promised? Where are all the new locations? I could rescript the whole second episode in just one day! >:(

Well one would have to count how many puzzles occured in KQ4 for example.

Then when the complete TSL series is over with, find out if this game matches that amount or not. MOE for example actually had about the same amount of puzzles as KQ4, if not more.

My guess when its all over it will average to be about the same as at least KQ1 in number of puzzles if not more.

11 puzzles is probably shorter than a Telltale Games episode by half probably (I've never really counted how many puzzles are in an average Telltale episode though). It's a little more than Owl's Quest (KQ fan game) though, LOL (which as I recall had about 7 puzzles).

Well, ya, King's Quest is on Earth. Daventry is very old city from a long time ago. It's in ruins now and people aren't quite sure exactly where it used to be. After this failure, noone will take you serious nor take orders from you anymore. You promised the fans a great adventure game and all we've got is a clumsy 3D mod of KQ6 locations. You flooded all boards with your "The Silver Lining episode 2 dated!"-threads and promiced "more gameplay, more puzzles, more locations". That was just cheating. Shame on you!

That doesn't explain all the broken promises but thanks for your profund knowledge nevertheless.

That's what I said about your project. If you're going to troll, at least be original.

I think KQIX-Team is a scam!

Who said he was trying to comment on the broken promises? He was just flat-out insulting you, and yet you complemented him on his quip.

I never really count how many puzzles there are in adventure games either. I base it off of how many breaks I have to take before I figure out something. But almost nine times out of ten, the next step is either something nonsensical or an oversight that I figured was unnecessary. I still feel that Episode 2's amount of puzzles succeeded my expectations. I didn't know exactly what to expect coming from Episode 1.

But aren't puzzles a core component of what makes an adventure game an adventure game?

Well in a well made adventure game, I think it feels as if there are alot of puzzles, but you won't necessarily know how many exactly.

With spelling like that, I dread to think what your rewrite will be like.

What do you count? What does count?
What, for you personally, makes a KQ game a KQ game?

It's not as complex as you are making it sound. I don't numerically count the puzzles. I don't think back and say, "This game had 10 puzzles, while that one has 4." Count as in "1, 2, 3 . . .", not count as in acknowledgment.

Well I think I notice how many puzzles there are, if there are few puzzles to begin with. If it has a decent amount and they are well done I'm much less likely to notice.

There are no games that have 4 or 10 puzzles. These things are called demos.

Owl's Quest cough cough was a complete game, but has less than ten puzzles :p...

It's not a demo, maybe a "mini game" though.

KQ2 2 1/4: Breast Intentions is pretty short too, only 80 points and maybe 10 puzzles or so.
