That's a very good point as well.

You could all always wait until next year and download it all at once..?

Seriously though, I don't mind the Episodic release.  Yeah, it would be nice to play through as one big game, but, at the same time, the team are taking feedbacks of all natures into account in order to make the future episodes better gaming experiences (for example, they put in the running, the shorter narrations, and even patched the first episode for that!), and this probably wouldn't be so quickly and/or easily rectified, if it was, if we had one big game.
I was actually briefly considering that, but then I came back to the forum and couldn't help myself!  MUST.....PLAY.....TSL!!!!  that is a good point though.  I mean it is fine as it is, but I just prefer one huge game to a bunch of smaller games.

One thing is for sure, as soon as I finish all the episodes, I am immediately going back to episode 1 and playing the whole thing all the way through.

TSL has too many fans...

Most Online Ever: 271 (July 10, 2010, 04:16:08 PM)

Wow, that's almost 300. How much have it been yesterday? A half of it? A third? Yes. You and a few others are real harcore TSL fans, that's undeniable. But the silent majority are fans of King's Quest and many of them don't even visit this site anymore.  Don't throw them into the same pot.

Nothing we can say or do will convince him...
I don't know. Did I miss something? What did you say that could convince me or could explain the broken promises? Did you release another version that fulfills them? So, please – show it to us! So far I haven't read any explanations for this breach of promise.

Quote from: koko_99_2001 on September 19, 2010, 07:53:03 AM
If you make any personal attacks, you will be banned.
Makes sense to me. Btw. Have you read the whole thread or just my posts?

WHAT? A personal attack? Don't make me laugh! If you really have to ban real critics, you should come up with better things.

In the real world, TSL gets some mixed reviews.

It seems the only real complaint is that it is short.  you really can't judge a game like this until it is all done.  Most people appreciate the game for what it is though, whether they loved it or just thought it was respectable.  there are some "haters", but they exist for every game.

irrelevant.  No personal attacks, no matter the context.

I almost agree here.  Just because you might hate the game, doesn't automatically mean you should be banned, but personal attacks are a different thing.  logical posts, no matter how anger filled, as long as they follow the rules of the forum, against the game, comma, should be allowed.  period.  no one said you couldn't "really be a crtitic".

But I do have to say that there's a huge difference between being a "real critic", and coming in with one liners, or criticisms like "This project is a total joke. What where you thinking?"; a real critic elaborates on the problems they have and how they feel they could improve it.

Maybe if you tried that tack, then people wouldn't be so quick to jump on you, instead of coming across as nothing more than a pessimist.

I dont understand the fuss. I just wanted to see the story get a good ending.... I really get confused as to anyone getting upset. There's no need. If anyone wants a KQ9 of some sort, Its on them and activision.  Episode 2 was awesome,  though I agree I would have waited a year to get the full game. But of course the advantage is the feedback.  Not everyone is going to be pleased, but as a dedicated KQ fan since the 80s, Im incredibly fortunate to have stumbled across this project.  I am happy with how it is, enjoy it, and am anxiously awaiting more. I also like the game style and direction. As I always said, GREAT JOB GUYS.  And the additional improvements made a difference.

OK all the troll-feeding needs to come to a stop here.  A summary for those who aren't clear on what's going on here:

KQIX-Team has been making a VGA remake of The Silver Lining and has blatantly ripped off assets (audio, voices, writing, storyline, etc.) from our game to put it together.  Now we haven't taken major beef with that and have left him alone over at AGS as he drummed up some fans of his own.

Now he promised his own fans that he would have more gameplay ready for them on the same day that we released Episode 2.  He didn't deliver, hasn't released new gameplay at all yet.  Now rather than handling this let-down like an adult and getting back to work, he has made the choice to come to our forum (yes, the forum for the project he's stealing from) and start trolling around to try and make everybody else as upset as he is.  It has nothing to do with our game or our commitments, everything he's doing is connected to his own failure to follow through.

The best response in this situation?  Do NOT reply to him, he has absolutely nothing productive to say or do here and isn't going to change no matter what you say.  Just ignore him at every turn and don't let yourselves get upset or dragged into his childish behavior.  If he gives us proper reason to ban him, we will, but let's just leave him alone until then.  Thanks everybody!

I receive lots of PMs. Most people send me ideas and corrections they would like to see in the remake. I haven't received a single negative message about the project yet. You would be surprised if you knew all the names of these people. They praise you but at the same time they explain ME what's all wrong with YOUR game. Funny, isn't it? No, it isn't. It isn't at all. But what is the reason for that? Why are they so awed? Look at your post and you'll find the answer.

This project is a total joke. What where you thinking? I've played Episode1 and I have played Episode 2. How many puzzles did Episode 1 have? I'll tell you: None. How many puzzles did Episode 2 have? Eleven. ELEVEN! Yes, I've counted them. Seriously guys, is there something you didn't understand about the concept of adventure games? Your second Episode is shorter than most AGS beginner games! What happend to the rich gameplay you promised? Where are all the new locations? I could rescript the whole second episode in just one day! >:(

I have not even started playing it, only took a quick tour of 10 mins of so before I went to bed, but say you are right, 11 puzzles in this episode. Lets also say the other episodes are much alike, then you have 45-50 puzzles in a game. that isn't that bad I think.

have seen games with less then 50 puzzles easily.

I've been very generous with that number. Most people wouldnt call things like "Give item X to person Y" or simple things like "Use key with door" a puzzle.

I you don't like the game then leave.  It is free, so you have no right to complain about something handed out to you. Now if you paid money for it and you thought it was terrible then you can complain.

You can't expect a 25 years old adventure game to be as complex as a modern one.

So, I know I am going to make the Gods of the Boards angry for actually responding to you, but hopefully they'll understand that I've been lurking around here ever since the game was first announced.

I have to ask you what your expectations were. I downloaded this game so I could have that one last nostalgic fling with Roberta's vision. I was thrilled as Hell when I learned that the project wasn't going to just be a fan remake of an old game (though I do love those Infamous Adventures and AGD ones) but a whole new story that was being written to put a fan-made bow on Roberta's career.

It doesn't bother me at all that the setting is the same as in one of the previous games; in fact, that just heightens the nostalgia even more for me, and for players who have never seen another KQ game, it might make them wonder what was so good about them enough to go play them. I did not bother me that Episode I was too short because I knew it was an introduction, and I had a lot of fun getting back into the world. It doesn't bother me that Episode II has so few puzzles because I know there are more episodes to follow, the puzzles I had to solve were long and engaging, and I was really in it for the story anyway. This is an adventure game with puzzles, not a puzzle game.

So when you came in here lambasting the developers for what they spent so long to produce for free about how little you thought of it, I had to wonder what you were expecting and whether those expectations might have been too high. Of course, now that I see you are also selling something, I have to wonder if you aren't just another unscrupulous salesman playing the FUD game with another product's users. So, you are either an incredibly judgmental fanboy or you are just another salesman who will step on anyone he likes to get people to buy his product. Either way, you are another person I don't have to pay any attention to anymore.

Ok, so I am done feeding the troll, now. Maybe if you agree with what I've said I can be the last one to do this.

True... in fact that weakens his point even more.  KQ3 was made OVER 25 YEARS AGO!  back when adventure games were in style.  I think if this, story and puzzle wise measures up to the greatness of the older games, it is amazing.  especially when made for free.
