I saw the original and it was incredibly well done. It was more touching than horrifying or sensational, which is a massive point in its favour. The last thing we need is another "Blehhhh!!!" vampire movie.

What I don't understand is, why on earth would you remake a movie which came out so recently? I can't imagine they're going to improve on the original at all.

I imagine mostly because the original was a foreign film (re: why a remake). They're doing that with Girl with the Dragon Tattoo as well.

I saw the original, it was quite interesting. I wouldn't say it's NOT a horror movie at all, but it's not your normal kind of horror movie. There's some jump-out-at-you stuff, some blood, some monsters, but the focus of the movie is not about that stuff at all.

I loved the original but the remake makes the girl seem like more of a monster I hope they didnt change  much i would for once like a direct adaption of a foreign film

I guess. But I don't see why subtitles are such a bad idea XD

LOL, they're a great idea! But plenty of people won't see a subtitled movie just because that's what it is. By making an American remake, in English, they'll draw in a lot more people (and a number of those will then go watch the original), so business-wise, it makes a lot of sense.

I suppose you're right. I just hate the idea that you have to repackage something to make it palateable to the general populace. If it's good then it's good, right?  :( Business-wise this makes perfect sense but I doubt the remake will be a better work of cinema, which is all I'm really interested in. But then, I like Metropolis  ::) which is about 3 hours long, black and white, silent and originally in German  ;D

Its almost a given that they will censor it  and most likely make the Girl a real girl

Please don't edit purely to bump a thread. If people have more to say on a topic, they'll post in it. If they don't, then bumping it won't help.

Unfortunately, one of my first thoughts was "Oh, great, now I have to learn Swedish". ::)
