We had a previous Weekly Poll which asked what was the most important factor, so what do you think is the least?  Don't forget to say why you think so. :)

First to post!
I think the technology is the least important. I pretty game with nothing backing it pails in comparison to a game with everything going for it but tech.

I think all aspects are important, but the sound is optional. I mean I can enjoy the game without sound, although it would be less fun (so i'm looking forward to the sound of kq9)

I agree with etgadsby that Technology should be solid (aka the game should not crash).... this let me chose sound over technology ; /

EDIT..... I just rememberd QfG4, before i was able to fix it *shivers* ; (

I think it would be technology.  Although it was a toss-up between tech and sound.  However, I really do like to know what's going on with the game with the sound accompaning (I have been playing QfG and 1&2 didn't have any sound for me...Barely started on 3 b/c I had to get back to school but it said something about an error with the sound  :()  Oh well...anyway...Tech is my choice!

Well, when I get home, I'll probably try installing another type of sound program (or whatever it's called since I'm not sure what type of sound blaster we have on the computer).  But it not, well, I survived the first two without sound, so I guess I'll survive this one too!

I'd say sound and/or music. They are wonderful enhancements to a game when done well, but they're not very crucial to me. In fact, I had to play Monkey Island 1 & 2 and Beneath a Steel Sky sans sound/music because my @&*(*@&!! sound card just wouldn't work for them.

Graphics and tech are close behind, though. Again, beautiful art is always appreciated, but as long as it's good enough to get the point across I don't quibble. (In fact, if it wasn't for the parser, I wouldn't mind text-only games.) As for tech... if the game *needs* souped-up tech, use it. Otherwise, just go with what works best, even if it's not "first-class".

i believe technology ;B, because if you have a great plot and everything then who cares if the technology sucks XB, its about the enjoyment ;D

I also voted sound, meaning more sound effects than music. They add, but I can do without if I must.

I vote art as being the least important. Im not much of an "eye candy" person while sound effects, w/ music in particular, can and does add greatly to any game's mood. Thats one of the many reasons I dont particularly like Myst or Adventure Company games... The music just isnt involved enough...  :P

I don't debate, I ramble with STYLE!

Hmm, I think I have to go with sound as well.  When I used to be really into the KQ series, they would always have system requirements that were slightly higher than my own computer, so it forced me to upgrade my computer.  In those days, games wouldn't even install on computers that didn't meet requirements.  Because of this, technology is somewhat of a factor for me. ;D

Sound made some of the great old games classic! Just look at Castlevania and Zelda.

Hahahah I was about to be a smart ass and say story isn't important in most games unless its an adventure game then re-read the title and realised that was the question! DOH!

Lol I think I'd go for gameplay as I never really associate that with adventure games anyway, all you do is point and click...

Take some of the old NES games for example. They all had crappy technology, but they were some of the greatest games ever.

I'm not saying sound isn't a factor, it's just the least important one for me.  It's more like one of those things that accompanies the game as a nice surprise, IMHO.  I find it hard to have high expectations for sound based on advertising, and I'm not just talking about adventure games, same goes for movie previews and TV commercials.

Unfortunately, I don't know any NES games (or what those games are), so my choice remains the same ;)

I went with technology.  It was really hard for me to decide, but I enjoyed many low tech games, and probably still do.

I was torn with sound, though.  Having played resident evil games, I realized that sound can be crucial to a mood.  And I do realize that this was specifically for adventure games, the mood in those can often be crucial as well.

I always think looking at old games interesting. As I think I’ve said I’ve been replaying the whole “King’s Quest” series. Right now I’m still in the EGA games.

They’re still great but it did take a little bit for me to adjust from having been used to stuff like OpenGL and 5.1 sound.   Technology is so subjective and so tied to when a game was/is published that the only important thing for me is that it doesn’t crash or screw up my computer!

Gah! I misread the poll! ;P

Ah well.

I'd say art, partly because even stick figures can be used to illustrate an amazing story with no hindrances.
