hi all..my wife of 27 years..(thats how long we have been married , not her age :-)..bought me the beauty and the beast bluray for my 51st birthday, which is today 14th..after watching it i turned around and said to her "The voice of the beast sounds familiar.."..then when the end credits started to roll..I realized it was bobby benson..the guy who did the voice of Alexander in kings quest 6..(small world)...that was my surprise for the day..
I actually still have the bottle of after shave she gave me for my 18th birthday back in november 1977...thats how long we have been together!!!!..I dont use the aftershave....It probably smells like rocket fuel or something..but still keep it for sentimental reasons..okay..enough of my boring life..take care people

regards mickey bear..(melbourne australia)

Awww, adorable! Happy birthday!!

Yeah, I remember way back when being all excited that Beast was the voice of Alexander, little Disney fangirl that I was :)

I know that they are the same person but I can't seem to put the two voices together.  :( I guess I'm gonna have to go back and really pay attention.

Happy Birthday!

Happy Birthday!
According to IMDB they mixed his voice with panther and lion growls. But I just looked up clips on youtube, and if you look at the end after he's human again, it's much more obvious. :D

I guess I don't need to ask what you got like I do for everyone else. :P

Yeah, Beauty and the Beast was on TV last Wednesday and when I watched it I listened for his voice and couldn't really tell until the end when he turned back into a prince.
By the way, does anyone know who did the singing for the Beast? Because I swear it sounds just like Benson, but I didn't know that he could sing, and I know that sometimes those Disney movies had different people sing in place of the voice actors.

As another point, though I bet lots of people here already know this, Tony Jay (Captain Saladin) was also in Beauty and the Beast as the head of the insane asylum. I didn't know this until I heard him speak and immediately recognized him.
So what if I am, huh? Anyways, I work better when I'm drunk. It makes me fearless! If I see a bad guy, I'll just point my sword at him and saaaaaaaaaay, "Hey! Bad guy! You're not s'posed to be here! Go home or I'll stick you with my sword 'til you go, 'Ouch! I'm dead!' Ah-ha-ha!" Ha-ha. *hic* See? Ain't no one gonna be messin' wit' ol', Benny!

This doesn't prove that Robby Benson was the voice of the Beast's singing, but it does prove that he could at least sing (well, in my opinion).

No, but this does.
He's seriously got one of the best voices I've ever heard on a guy. Really awesome.

I never had any problem identifying him as Robby Benson singing or talking. He has a very distinct way of pronouncing things, I think.
