Any Scott Pilgrim fans out there?  I'd imagine on a site full of gamers there has to be!  I just read the entire series of graphic novels this week and I'm in the midst of watching the film now.  I absolutely love it.  A big part of the fun is just simply trying to catch all the references.  Reading through the comics, I feel like there may have been a couple passing references to Monkey Island and Quest for Glory.....but then again I'm often known to be wrong...

I've sadly not read any of the comics but the film was absolutely my cup of tea The moment I saw the pixel-art Universal logo with 8-bit sound, I was very, very happy.

I didn't notice any Monkey Island references, though. Maybe they had to take them out for the film to keep it short.

The Monkey Island reference was in the comic.  At one point Kim says "How appropriate you fight like a cow."  Maybe it's just me, but where else would that be from?  Also, in the comic one of their songs is called "Erasmus Spellcaster" or something.  Again, maybe it's just me but who else would that be?

I'm most of the way through the comics. I must say, it's great to get some of the jokes in the movie cause some of them were pretty random like the lesbian one. That one makes sense after reading the comic (Ramona is SO bi )

I definitely agree!  I watched it once not having read the comics and then again today having actually read them.  I enjoyed it on a whole new level.  I cracked up when they referred to Ramona's bi sexuality as her "sexy phase."

Fun fact:  Apparently the main influence in the design for the Chaos Theater at the end of the film is Shredder's hideout from the TMNT movie.  That totally made my day when I found out.  I remember so badly wanting to hang out in that place as a little kid.

I haven't read the comics, but the movie was one of the most awesome things I've seen this year!
