Hmm, does anyone know if there is something like Sci Viewer, that will let you look through the files of AGS games? I've been interested in looking through the story scripts of several of the sierra remakes.
Well, ya, King's Quest is on Earth. Daventry is very old city from a long time ago. It's in ruins now and people aren't quite sure exactly where it used to be. There are some archaeologists searching through the ruins, they think they know its Daventry. But its somewhere on Earth."-Roberta Williams http://kingsquest.wikia.com/wiki/File:Daventryisearth.ogg

I'm going to go ahead and move this to the gaming board. This is the fan feedback board for TSL. As for an SCI viewer for AGS, I couldn't help you. I don't even know what they are... XD

No, there's really no such thing, besides AGS itself.  I don't think there's a program to decompile a finished AGS game into its components.

Besides, I don't think a lot of people would want you to do that, anyway.

Once you compile an AGS game you can't. You should need to contact the creators of those games and ask them for the files, but it's highly unlikely they are going to happily give you all the stuff.
Do you like retro games? If you do check my YouTube channel, you might like it! :)

Chris Jones was very vehement in his stance about keeping game files compiled in AGS encrypted. It's only recently been announced by Chris that certain portions of AGS are going open source.

Wait, AGS is going open source? I'm really out of the loop... XD

Perhaps. The runtime is going to be released as open source as well in the near future.

I'm not sure I was entirely clear, I don't mean "game scripts" as in the game software. What I was interested in was being able to read the narrative/conversation text in the game (to see aspects of the story I might have missed playing through it).

Are there anyone in IA, or AGDI, that might have that text separate (that they might be willing to share)?

I've been interested in doing this to compare the differences between official games and the fan games narrations, etc. Not just KQ, but also the QFG2 remake.

That it definitely should! If the editor can be ported to Linux too, that'd be excellent.
