Honestly as much as I give criticism to this project, ok not that much, I do state that it is had as much to do with how much I loved it and how high my expectations were.
I am not going to pretend that my observations or complaints were me just venting, I do think I brought up some legitimate flaws mostly in some aspects of storytelling, but that I think the game far outweighs any complaint I put against it even when I don't say so. I even held many back simply because I didn't want to give the wrong impression on how I viewed the game.
This game was ultimately taking everything in a very long series and making it amount to something. It so far is doing just that without just giving it an entirely new story with completely different elements, but also including elements from the entire span of the game. It used the characters from the previous games and for the most part they are all, to me at least, completely in character (Only one main character to me is even slightly... off. but character wise he had an excuse for suddenly not being soft spoken). While there are some games that I wish could go on forever, I do appreciate a great ending of some sort.
Oddly enough what I think "The Silver Lining" does best isn't even capturing the essence of the original games, but in many ways it couldn't, that has been often what was toughest about enjoying the games. What it does do best is give a sense of scope, that the story has evolved to the point where just the metaphysical nature of Kings Quest is at stake. It is trying to explore what the games mean and the point of going through it all.
I have thought about the game a lot and what every character represents in the story. How they relate to eachother and what it all means. I have also thought about the new elements brought in. However since this isn't a "Lets analyse the plot and characters" thread I'll stop.... this is wordy enough and no one wants to hear about "How Alexander and Rosella offer differing aspects on the light versus darkness scale" or "What does the villain actually represent about the series?"
