I'm just wondering? The golden egg had no purpose in KQ 1, and that bugged the heck out of me. I'm just curious if it will make an appearance or do something in anyway in KQ 9?

I know this forum is for speculating, but I wouldn't mind a just little hint..   ???  please  :-\ :( :'(

Okay, I read the OMG Plot hints topic page. I'll be good.

Welcome! ;D

No, the egg didn't have much purpose, though it could be used to buy your way across the bridge I guess... there was a lot of random treasure in KQ1 with the main purpose of adding points to your score.

Welcome to the KQ9 forums, Midnight Mist!  :)

I'm not sure if KQ9 will go into solving every single "red herring" that previous KQ games had.  Bushie's right, the egg was just one of the things u could use on the troll to cross the bridge.  That whole golden egg thing was taken from the fairytale of Jack and the Beanstalk (the hen that lays the golden eggs).  The KQ games were based on many fairytales -- too many to list! ::) <actually, that would make a good thread!  :D>

KQ9 tries to solve loose-ends (by this, I mean plot-wise), but I don't think it can solve specific loose-ends on the inventory level.  I do recall Cesar saying that KQ9 won't introduce any red herrings though, so you don't need to worry about any more "golden egg" type items in this game.   8)

Midnight Mist - Welcome and happy posting!!  ;D

I thought a "red herring" was something that's supposed to confuse you/throw you off the right track... the golden egg in KQ1 doesn't qualify as one - it has a use in the game: you can either give it to the bridge troll or the cave rat, and in both cases it makes the game easier (assuming that climbing up the tree and getting the egg is easier than getting what you're supposed to give them). The fact that you don't get the max points for using it shows it's supposed to be kind of a "shortcut"  8)

I was completely serious!! I'm probably the least-silly person on this board.
Of course, there isn't much of a competition for THAT title  ::)
Anyway, you can't blame me for detiriorting threads into silliness. Just to off-topicness  :P

And I did start that thread! it's right Here!  8)

Wow, I ask a simple question and now there is another topic about it.

I didn't know that you could give the egg to the troll or rat, but now that I do it doesn't bug me much anymore.

Thanks for the welcome you guys!

Yonkey

;D  Well, your question might have been simple, but the answer certainly wasn't!

Don't worry though, it's pretty hard to give simple answers when people ask questions about the KQ9 plot.  :P

No it isn't. The answer is usually "Suffer"  :suffer:  :P

But don't worry, Midnight Mist, all threads tend to go a bit off-topic sooner or later  ;D

What's it with adventure games and gold eggs? Zork 1 had a "jewel encrusted egg" too... I just dont get it... I mean, can you take any food item from Publix, line it with gold, and suddenly youve got a worthy adventure game treasure?? Try this one on for size, Sparkling Ruby Liver, Emerald Studded Sprouts, or maybe even a gold crowned coconut called the coconut of quendor  ;P.... what will they think of next??   ???

I don't debate, I ramble with STYLE!

LOL!  XB

Well, the Goose that laid Golden Eggs is a famous story, plus you've got Faberge eggs too. :P I'd love to see a Silver Prostate or a Bronze Gallblader sometime though. ;)
After all, there was the golden heart in KQ5...

Questing Character

Emerald finger nail clippings.  Now *that* is a treasure truly worthy of an adventure game.

Oh!  It could be great! They look in a stump, see a pouch, take the pouch, open it...and viola!  A bunch of diamond....cauliflower?  I love it!
