After asking for the King's Quest and Space Quest remakes to be included along the original versions on Good Old Games, GOG finally added the Police Quest series to their library, this time with the Police Quest I remake, but not original.

So I started a petition on their forums asking them to add both the original version and the remake to their current KQ, SQ and PQ packs. It worked for the original version of Broken Sword last month so why couldn't it work for Sierra remakes too? Drop by and add your name at:

Good idea; I agree that they should include both.
So what if I am, huh? Anyways, I work better when I'm drunk. It makes me fearless! If I see a bad guy, I'll just point my sword at him and saaaaaaaaaay, "Hey! Bad guy! You're not s'posed to be here! Go home or I'll stick you with my sword 'til you go, 'Ouch! I'm dead!' Ah-ha-ha!" Ha-ha. *hic* See? Ain't no one gonna be messin' wit' ol', Benny!

Bah, the original PQ1 fits better, with the 2-3's continuity, and is the better version, IMO. More detailed, more use of police procedures.

The remake while it looks nice, screwed up many things.
Well, ya, King's Quest is on Earth. Daventry is very old city from a long time ago. It's in ruins now and people aren't quite sure exactly where it used to be. There are some archaeologists searching through the ruins, they think they know its Daventry. But its somewhere on Earth."-Roberta Williams http://kingsquest.wikia.com/wiki/File:Daventryisearth.ogg

Which is why we're asking for both the original and the remake.

No problem! I hope GOG adds the remakes! I go by a different name on most other sites btw. I'm usually simsquest10, but I guess I wanted to be unique here...

Hmm, is GOG's police quest 1-4 pack a straight rerelease of the 2006 Vivendi release? That would explain the missing AGI version.

But I do agree they need to add in the original version.

Another release that might be nice to add in, is the floppy version of GK1. The cd-rom version was enhanced version  with hi-res artwork, whereas the original had standard VGA artwork.

My pleasure! I hope we get a positive response. :)

I agree.  I hate the awkward juxtaposition of hi res items on low res backgrounds.  Also, I hate the stretched pixels on the "high res" artwork.  If they were going do a high res enhancement, they should have reproduced ALL the background art in high res.  Blech.  I almost always play it in standard VGA.

I guess another holy grail as far as KQ is concerned would be a GOG release of KQ4 AGI.

Wait, what? Are you serious? I didn't know there was a version of KQ4 with those in it... There three versions of KQ4, right?

That's the early KQ4 agi version. It was cut from later AGI versions and never was in the SCI version.

Speaking of version differences apparently early version of space quest agi had a Ken Williams Easter egg were he made a Cameo appearance. Let's also not forget multiple versions of copyright infringing removals in the remake and SQ4, ZZ Top, Dandy, Radio Shock. Actually I prefer the floppy version of SQ4 because of Radio Shock. The marquee looked much better than the hz. So Good logo. Also the mall sequel police puzzle was different and more challenging in the floppy version.
