Is the introduction the same as the introduction in the Beta 7 demo?

BTW, if we are going to have more than one version of KQ3, I'd love to see your's finished in some form. It's plotting is quite interesting, and I would love to see what you had planned for Daventry sequence. Imo, you can never have too many KQ games, ;). Its different enough, that it would be worth playing on its own merits.
Well, ya, King's Quest is on Earth. Daventry is very old city from a long time ago. It's in ruins now and people aren't quite sure exactly where it used to be. There are some archaeologists searching through the ruins, they think they know its Daventry. But its somewhere on Earth."-Roberta Williams http://kingsquest.wikia.com/wiki/File:Daventryisearth.ogg

Mine? "Mine" is AGDI's which is being finished so I don't know what you mean there.

And no, KQ3+ has nothing to do with the demo Navy, Muzlak, and I made (which turned into AGDI's new KQ3Redux preparing for its imminent release).

I'm confused, I must have misread your post. I was referring to the KQ3+:An Heir Raising Tale. I thought you were involved with that one, based on your previous post.

Its not the same game/story as AGDI's KQ3 Redux right?

Edit: Ok, your introduction demo is associated with KQ3 Redux. KQ3+:AHRT is yet a separate not related with KQ3 Redux. It was confusing, since this topic was about the KQ3+.

No. I just threw in another KQ3 demo (completely different project). Thought it would be of interest. I guess it was off-topic, but I thought the discussion was going in the direction of multiple KQ-related fan projects.

LucasFan also made a very short KQ3 introduction demo with his own remade backgrounds and some mildly altered KQ6 dialogue portraits.

Baggins

Ok, that clears it up. I'm not upset at slightly off-topic link. I appreciate it. Thanks for the clearup.

Do you have a link to the lucasfan demo?

Has anyone finished this (as far as is possible anyway)? I'm loving it but I'm stuck on making spells, walkthrough  just says make them but I'm not sure know how.  :-\

Baggins

Which version are you playing? As far as I know the walkthrough is for the Beta 7. I had problems figuring out even getting into the basement in Beta 5 if it's even possible. So I've never gotten very far myself. Only discovered version 7 today.

Yea, seven. There was a book I was supposed to look at (don't know if it's actually relevant or not to this, or if it's like the random books in the other version that you could look at), but the game crashes on me when ever I try.

Ok, slowly figuring this out (partly through trial and error, partly through the directions in the spellbook in game, and partly through looking at the spells in the original game :P) If anyone wants them since the walkthrough doesn't have it, assuming it doesn't change with each playthrough (and I'll add as I figure them out):

I do not have a link. I but I do have it archived on a disk somewhere. If I find it I'll upload it.

Thanks.

Hmm apparently the demo also has some of the later areas, like the boat, mountains, and even daventry. But you have to use teleport cheats to get to them. Daventry is apparently largely unfinished though. But its unplayable due to lack of scripting most places.

Apparently there were going to new spells, and spells like invisibility could be used anywhere, with no limitations, to add multiple solutions to the game.

Surprisingly, in the files of the Beta 7 there is something called "Not KQ3.EXE" that has alot of random musings about a KQ3 remake. It looks like it was intended to be an april fools joke, and not originally intended to be serious, but may have been the inspiration for creation of An Heir Raising Tale itself. Basically gives insight into what the finished game might have been like.

Some other interesting bits on the Not KQ3 file, includes a cutscene of Lolotte stealing Genesta's necklace circa the end of KQ3. As well as an even longer version of the introduction cutscene, with young twins about seven years old, playing around Daventry, and discovering the egg that would become the three-headed dragon. The cutscene crashed, but it seems the direction of the cutscene, that Manannan would have kidnapped him from the cave not long after.

Saw those. ^_^ Had some interesting stuff planned.

Yeah, Manannan shows up and puts a spell on Alexander to make him forget, Rosella runs back to Graham and Valanice and they search but don't find him, then it pretty much does the scene with the mirror from the other intro but with Rosella standing around.

Said people complained about that version, but I kinda liked it better. Circumvents the whole taking care of a baby issue, and works together nicely with the other idea of having a young boy on the ship as a replacement.

I've gotten to the end of the walkthrough though and am a bit confused on how far you can go in the demo. Intro to game says you should be able to defeat the wizard, which I haven't, but the walkthrough says that's it at the end of day 4, and I've yet to get further on my own. :-\

I've been trying to follow the walkthrough, but I'm having trouble finding the missletoe. What part of the forest is it located in? It doesn't seem to be in the screen it was in the original.

Ya, the ideas are interesting, if we could get ahold of the developer, and tell him we want him to finish it (or release the developming files, so others could help finish it) ;). I don't mind if he sticks to the AGI graphics.

I don't know if you noticed though, bizarrely, the timing the game gives, Alexander is still about 7 when he's kidnapped in the demo 7 cutscene, it says the game takes place 10 years after his kidnapping, and that he's seventeen at that time. But that's kinda bizarre since Alexander is still sleeping in a cradle at that age, LOL.

lol, yeah I did notice that XD

On mine it was on the screen east of the spider cave.

I guess it would be just as bizarre that not only is Alexander sleeping in his cradle at age of seven, he's in the cradle with his sister at that age, LOL. Oh wait, they still share the same bed at 21 in The Silver Lining  :suffer:.

Some of the stuff that I find impressive, is how they use Manannan in this remake. He isn't some random encounter, but interactions with him are tied directly into the plot through scripted events.  He physically appears screws Alexander over, punishes him. He's was sinister in the original, but in this he's seriously twisted and evil. He spews absolute malicious hatred towards Alexander.

I find the references to KQ2+ that are thrown around to be kind of interesting as well. Such as a letter from Cauldaur, a letter from Hagatha. There is even is even a letter from Alhazred tossed in as well.

It seems that some events are still based on time events, but instead of being tied to a clock connected to everything, the time controls a specific event, much in the same way there were timed events in KQ7 and Gabriel Knight 3. I.E. not doing something fast enough, might lead to a death scene, or missing some of the events. You are generally told during the story what you need to do, before that time limit runs out.
