Erica ended up being a little bit more foul-mouthed than my original source of inspiration for her, but to this day, every time I see <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Olivia_Dunham\">Olivia Dunham<\/a> in <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Fringe_(TV_series)\">Fringe<\/a>, I tend to smile. She\u2019s gorgeous and Anna Torv is a really gifted actress, and she makes Fringe one of my favorite shows in our current TV spectrum.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_2183\" style=\"width: 510px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.postudios.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/11\/ericareed_oliviadunham-e1354289760311.jpg\" rel=\"lightbox[2182]\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-2183\" class=\"size-full wp-image-2183\" title=\"Erica Reed &amp; Olivia Dunham\" src=\"http:\/\/www.postudios.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/11\/ericareed_oliviadunham-e1354289760311.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"500\" height=\"304\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-2183\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">TOTAL coincidence!<\/p><\/div>\n<p>Jane once told me that Erica didn\u2019t seem much like an FBI Agent. The Erica she was seeing is the Erica that opens up the game in the cemetery. The thought stuck in my mind, and I wanted to have Erica seem more like an FBI Agent. <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Dana_Scully\">Dana Scully<\/a> from the <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/The_X-Files\">X-Files<\/a> came to mind, but she was too \u201cformal\u201d for our likings. <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Debra_Morgan\">Debra Morgan<\/a>, from <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Dexter_(TV_series)\">Dexter<\/a>,\u00a0 also didn\u2019t do it for me and she really wasn\u2019t FBI &#8212; although Erica&#8217;s bad language certainly comes from Deb!<\/p>\n<p>And then there was Olivia Dunham. I started googling for pictures of her and I came across a few. There was a particular one that really set it for me. If you spot any similarities, it\u2019s a complete coincidence.
