King's Quest 8 remake

[dark-daventry]

It was an interesting take on combat though. instead of point and click, point and attack lol. but it really was awful. I do admire that they used Olde English when they spoke. That at least made the game playable so I could hear all the funny quotes...

[waltzdancing]

The old English was a nice touch and my brothers loved when you drink from the fountain in Daventry, near the mill, just to hear him burb. I still don't understand what is so funny. I guess it must be a guy thing.

[dark-daventry]

Well to me the things he says kind of make no sense. And the "Tis beyond my reach" line is just awesome to me lol. At one point he says "Lo, what's this? A FEATHER?!". I'd have to replay the game in it's entirety to collect all the quotes. I have saved several games right before quotes that I like. For example, I have a save game right before you meet Azriel Lord of Death. I love that scene, I don't know why lol. Though you have to admit the game has very good music. Sierra should've released a soundtrack in my opinion. But to get back on topic, will this remake include music at all? If so, will it be original music, or music taken from the end product of Mask?

[atec123]

there are tons of hilarious stuff Connor says!

[dark-daventry]

definitely. That's why i partially like mask of eternity (I like it for the quotes, and a bit of the graphics, but I don't like the fact that you have to fight and stuff...)

[atec123]

i really like th original as a game.  its not very king's questish

[dark-daventry]

Yeah, as a game in general it's pretty good, but in terms of it's relation to King's Quest it's not so good. Though the final version of the game was littered with bugs all over the place... I remember my dad ordered three copies until we just stopped. Then a few years ago we saw a copy in EB Games and we grabbed it It wasn't until recently that I learned of Patches lol... And playing Mask with cheats is actually kind of fun. Have you ever tried it? They have an easter that can only be unlocked by cheating. It's a costume where Connor is in his birthday suit... check it out, it's hilarious...

Great News!

[atec123]

it will have music,
1 of my friends is doing music w/ this program called finale.

[dark-daventry]

I can't wait to hear what the music sounds like!

[atec123]

I posted some preliminary music on the site.  it still needs to be equlized and stuff, but it has the basic tune.

[dark-daventry]

I'll check it out in a few minutes!

[atec123]

Hi everyone,
I just wanted to say that we will have a live KQCast on TalkShoe.
I will answer Questions about my MoE remake as our main discussion.
It will be awesome.  I will say when it is, as soon as I know!

(Posted on: September 26, 2008, 08:11:07 AM)

it will be: sat, 27 7:00pm eastern.

[dark-daventry]

Darn, I missed it. How did it go? Did you get any good questions?

[atec123]

Sadly no.  Adam coul'nt be on, and noone called in.  it wasn't planned ahedof time.

[dark-daventry]

That's too bad. My advice is get a little bit more well-known first. Wait until a decent number of people know of your project before holding any types of events like that. But that's just me...

[atec123]

Go to the forum, there is a new member of the team, snophira (she likes to e called sno) a new writer for kq8!!

[daventry]

Im confused with the plot.

[atec123]

erm, was that a question?  I don't understand, sorry, anyone know what he means?
