LOL, I just said I learned Pig Latin in sixth grade, then I said that I learned Double Dutch in seventh grade.  They're both made-up languages. :P

Ok then... How about Klingon... I know a little Klingon... Seriously. I have an app on my iPod Touch that teaches me Klingon, and I have the Klingon-English Dictionary. But my favorite star trek language? The one from that species that speaks entirely in metaphor.

Shaka when the walls fell.

Darmok and Gilard at Tinagra

My spelling of the words is most likely horrible. But it's still cool that there's a species that speaks entirely in metaphor. Oh, and by the way: THERE ARE FOUR LIGHTS! (I'm a total Star Trek geek!)

Tamok!  The river Tamok!  In winter...

I actually learned a little Klingon myself.  All I can say now, though, is the word for Terran, yes and no, some general foods, and most of the swears.  I can cuss pretty fluently in Klingon.  I never get to put it to use though.

Oh and regarding the lights... [David Warner impersonation]"I don't know how you can be so mistaken..."[/David Warner impersonation]

All I know so far is Qupla! Yes, I know the spelling is absolutely wrong, but I'm way too lazy to look up the proper spelling... I really need to learn the Klingon swears and then when my trekkie friend pisses me off, I'll just swear at her in Klingon. It'll be priceless...

Geez, I really wanna watch that episode of TNG now... I will say this: Having all 7 seasons of TNG, DS9 and Voyager certainly has it's perks.

So what if I am, huh? Anyways, I work better when I'm drunk. It makes me fearless! If I see a bad guy, I'll just point my sword at him and saaaaaaaaaay, "Hey! Bad guy! You're not s'posed to be here! Go home or I'll stick you with my sword 'til you go, 'Ouch! I'm dead!' Ah-ha-ha!" Ha-ha. *hic* See? Ain't no one gonna be messin' wit' ol', Benny!

Well the ones I know (spelled as well as I can remember) are PataQ, which is just a classic.  Q'holm is what you would use if you want to call your friend a pathetic little animal.  Veq means she's slimy garbage.  And if you really want to just lay it down, go for Y'Intagh.  I don't think the source I read had an exact translation.  But apparently that's a serious insult.  You use it on a Klingon, and you'll get cut.

Though really, if you get into an insult match with your friend in Klingon, you can always end by shouting "ROMULAN!"  There's no comeback for that.  You just smirk and say, "that's right.  I just went there."

This seems quite appropriate here.

As does this. I'm going to have to start watching The Big Bang Theory.

Enchantermon, thank you for bringing these to my attention. I must now lock myself away for hours on end watching these clips over and over again...

You do realize you just helped a college student lock himself away from society at large to watch videos of klingon on youtube... oh man, my school work is so gonna suffer...

Or the clips will help you relax which will make you all the more productive when you do your work!  At least that's how I justified all my time goofing off in college and grad school...

Hey, that's what I did and I still graduated! :D
Of course, I wasn't watching Klingon videos all of the time and I did still do my homework and go to class.....so as long as you do that, you'll be okay. ;)

Well, I have a relatively perfect attendance record so far, so going to class shouldn't be an issue. As for doing my work... Well, that's another story. In one of my classes I slacked off and stopped doing the homework, but only because the subject matter was way above my head and even attempting to do the homework would be a huge waste of time and brain cells.

I could actually probably get away with telling the truth to some of my teachers, the ones that like me and who are huge star trek fans. I.E. all of them XD

"Well, you see, I was going to write this paper...but I got this sudden urge to watch Frasier speak Klingon, and once I watched it I couldn't stop and just kept watching it over and over all weekend.....so you can see how that would be a large hindrance."

I know my freshman science teacher from high school will totally accept that as a legitimate excuse. He LOVES star trek. I would stay after class to talk Trek with him. Seriously. He's also a bit strange. I visited him after moving on from his class, and on one of my visits, he was grading tests. So I sat with him for a bit. He came upon a test where a girl did a really good drawing of a pineapple in the margins. Per my suggestion, he gave her extra credit for the pineapple. His tests also frequently include four images labeled A,B,C, or D. There is no question associated with the pictures. The assumption is that you're supposed to circle one. So when the results come back, I circled A and got it correct, while the kid sitting next to me circled A and got it wrong. We asked him what was up with the whole thing, and he said, "Sometimes in life there are answers, but there are no questions". Still, he is to this day the best science teacher I've ever had.

Hah! That's awesome.
Here's a cool college story for you: One night, a few of my friends and I went to IHOP at around 11:00 with the intent of staying up all night (IHOPs are typically open 24 hours, for those who don't know) and doing schoolwork, then driving back in time for class the next morning. One of my friends had a paper to write. While she was writing it, my other two friends started telling her of a few times where people had written weird things in the bodies of their papers and had gotten away with it. One guy had even written his Christmas list somewhere in his and it was never (to his knowledge) noticed. The idea was that the professor didn't actually read the entirety of the papers he was given. So my friend, being the adventurous type, decided to test this theory, so in the middle of her paper she wrote a paragraph explaining that she was told that the professor didn't really read the papers and asked him, if he happened to read the paragraph, to draw a little picture of a man standing on a cloud in the top-right-hand corner of the page. She wrote: "No explanation is necessary; just a picture of a man standing on a cloud will do. Even a stick figure would be acceptable."

A week or so later, she got her paper back. To all of our disbeliefs, sure enough, on that page in the top-right-hand corner there was a picture of a man standing on a cloud. It also had a little note bedside it saying something like, "Rest assured, I do read each and every paper that is turned in to me."

Even better, about a week later we had a test in the class that the paper was for. After passing out the tests and being told to begin, our professor said to the class, "I'll give you extra credit if you draw a picture of a man standing on a cloud in the top-right corner of your test." If we hadn't been testing I would have fallen out of my chair with laughter.
The best part is that I was working as a student aid for this professor so I often graded tests for him, and when I graded those, sure enough, several tests had a man standing on a cloud in the top-right-hand corner. So awesome!
