This is less weird and more "Hey, you can do that?".

Solitaire Scrabble using just XHTML, CSS, and JavaScript

Speaks for itself, really. The fact that somebody figured out how to do this without using Flash or Java is pretty neat. (And a sign of a bored mind. ;) )

I've heard and seen the laughing cat a long time ago too, although he/she wasn't shaking his/her head at that time.

Yes, essentially, Bushie. ;D

Another link I came across:

File this under "This is seriously creepy" category:

Counter-Googling

Considering the number of times I got extremely rude responses from customers back when I worked at a store that asked for phone numbers for marketing purposes, I have a hard time believing that this sort of thing would fly if customers caught wind of companies doing it... but maybe the companies know something I don't.

Of course, I'm probably the only person on the planet who finds it disturbing instead of friendly when the bank clerk addresses me as "Elizabeth" after looking at my ID. They could at least call me Ms. Calkins (or even more preferably, just "Miss" or "Ma'am"!).

I don't mind it so much - that's how they make sure they got the right ID number/account/whatever :-\
I don't mind it when people I don't know call me by my first name either - in my country, we don't have that whole "has to know you well enough to call you by your first name" thing. If anything, I find it disturbing when people call me "Ma'am" ;)

Well they usually call me by my first name when I'm *leaving*, ("Have a nice day, Elizabeth.") so that's not it. ;)

As for the "has to know you well enough to call you by your first name" thing... that's not a country-wide thing here. Heck, it's not even a MA thing, necessarily. I guess it's just the way I was brought up/way I am that... to me, addressing someone by their first name implies a degree of familiarity and informality. So when someone uses my first name (or insists I use theirs) and such a degree doesn't actually exist, it makes me uncomfortable. :P

OK, that, and I hated the way customers would abuse the fact that employees are forced to wear nametags.

Peace & Luv, Liz

Oldbushie

Yikes! :o

I don't want them finding out about my sugar addiction!  :-\

It does feel weird to be at work and someone call me by my name..."Thanks for your help, Catherine"...and then the druggies come in wanting cleanser and call me "sugar" or "honey", or something like that...like I REALLY want my name displayed for them!

Came across this one today:

Imaginary Girlfriends

Basically, you can pay to have someone pretend to be your online girlfriend. It's... well... you know, I'm really not sure *what* to say about this idea.
