hahaha no no it's fine!, don't feel bad nathan! I just wanted to add my two cents on that matter, it's ok, I know I'm meanieh not fake :P so it doesn't even relates to a personal level to me :P

In fact, to be honest, that's why I made that statement at the beggining of my comment, not only girls are fake as in, (I probably shouldn't say this here lol) some of my co.workers (not kq9 related) are like that a lot, they laugh at stuff and such, and then when the person leaves the room then they start sharing weird mean comments with me, I don't understand but I just let it go :D it doesn't bothers me at all, it's just interesting how some would rather be that way sometimes? oh well...

And the following thing I mentioned about it was a personal comment I guess, that I would rather be mean than be hypocrite, and the truth is that has got me in troubles too many times :P because when mean is mean or giving out bad commentary to me or someone else at work, I just stay quiet if I don't have anything good to say at that moment, but if they push it I will say how I disliked that, and not many people can really handle that in person.

So don't feel bad! :D I was just getting myself into the conversation ;)

I suppose I try to play the peacemaker pretty often; my naivety is my biggest flaw and gift at the same time...  but I have to agree with you, being honest [in your case, 'mean' ;D] is far better than being hypocritical...  Rumors are a poison, one that I've had the unfortunate luck of being the target and recipient of a [thankfully] small number of times...

People just don't know how to handle someone telling them that their actions are unacceptable - it's automatic defense mode.  In my opinion, we all want to be right and it takes a good deal of humility to set aside personal dictates and accept criticism.  Speaking your mind doesn't make you mean, just honest...  it's if you're also slandering a person, intentions irrelevant, that makes you 'mean'.  Are you 'mean' Say?   ;)

Oh, yeah!  To keep with the spirit of this thread...  um...  Kimmie!  Woo Hoo for the Lil Squish!

When I first met James, he wasn't really flirty (from my point of view), he was actually REALLY nice a guy and his jokes were true jokes, not really cheesy stupid pick up lines that men think some women are as retarded as to fall for them... :P

You mean asking you to "strip me naked, tie me up, and cover me in whipped cream" isn't very flirty? XD

But on a serious note, you didn't believe some of the nice things I had to say at first, either... :(  You had better believe me now! ;P

Indeed, specially when they aren't true.

Being forward and being honest and being critical (as well as wanting to be right) are completly different things, I may not be right but I can be forward, I may not critice anything but I don't have to accept it either (or share it) as well as you can be forward about something and that wouldn't make you right nor honest.

Example, I won't tell anyone I don't like him I just won't comment about it, but I won't go telling that person that I like him if I just don't, either way I find it wrong, and I've seen that at work sooo many times, from students that tell me that they like me and I just simply can't believe it (they don't seem honest yet very forward about it) as well as students that may do like me and not say it (they do show they enjoy being with me but they aren't forward about it) as well as I don't agree with some of my colleagues when they tell students they are doing ok, and then while we talk tell me that person is horrible and simply NOT doing ok... those things are like wrong, so in different cases it all matters from where you stand I guess, but the fact they do it, or seem to do it to me, would mean that I have to accept it or share it, or enjoy it or whatever, I just simply let it go but if it comes to a moment I have to make a stand I have before, simply cuz I can't smile while someone tells me something mean or the fact that they expect me to do it too sometimes.

When you have no touch to say things as in, you don't care for that person, or you simply don't want to have touch or be nice with that person, then yes, you can call me mean I guess, as in sometimes I don't care if they bash over students behind their backs, or if they plot crap about random stuff, or if students hate me or such... I'm not supposed to like them but I'm not supposed to take their crap either, so sometimes I do lose touch because I simply choose not to care.

Personally, I do think I'm mean, because Im forward and sometimes blunt, but truth is... I don't really believe I'm always right.

Heh...  I wasn't looking at the distinctions between those three [forward, honest, critical] before - I agree with you about their differences, and I see how my statement doesn't reflect that very much at all.  I won't give an example as you did a wonderful job in doing that yourself.  :D

"...as well as I don't agree with some of my colleagues when they tell students they are doing ok, and then while we talk tell me that person is horrible and simply NOT doing ok..."

I hate it when professors are like that - I prefer it when someone will be up front and honest with me about my performance.  Without being faced with my faults there's really no good way to improve - I'd rather know what I've done wrong so I can fix it or at least attempt to make some restitution, whether for better or worse.

I can't think of much else - it's too early.   :-\

I agree with you, that's why I disagree with them, it is hard to improve if you don't know what you're doing wrong, being wrong gives you a chance to get better.

But in their defense, I must say sometimes it doesn't matter how much you try you can crash a wall, I have TWO students who are completly impossible, one is a big important dude from the goverment (He's the worse... mean, rude and thinks he owns everyone), and the other one a computer science graduated , they are both professionals and I bet good at what they do, but their manners and attitude  are so wrong, it makes me curse each time I see them on my list of the day

Since I can't keep my mouth shut I do take my chances, and I am forward about their mistakes (and sometimes their attitude too), sad is, they don't to care at all, sometimes even getting rude and disrespective, sad... for them that is.

Bleh, it's freaking sunday I shouldn't be talking about work lol

No doubt about it!!

And oh, since I can't seem to find anyone receptive to my flirts on this forum, I might have to resort to other areas. I can only go without flirting with anyone for so long. :-[ It's just too bad, them being such lovely and beautiful beings. :flirt:

[Say, I see your point on that and I concede it...  some students are elitists who think they have nothing to learn...  in all honesty, I hate when students are like -that- even more than instructors not being up front...  Sadly, I've been that way as well before - luckily, I realized that I was being stupid and stopped being so, at least in that way.  ;D]
