What was the reason in the original KQII?

(Considering, from what little I have seen/heard the serious lack of plot in the original was one of the prime motivators for the "+" version, I certainly don't expect much!)

When cities burn and armies turn,
and flee in disarray,
Cowards will cry 'tis best to fly
and fight another day.
But warriors know it in their marrow when they die and fall,
It is better to have fought and lost than not have fought at all.

Hagatha doesn't kill Valanice becasue she wants her to live so she can suffer, and enjoys watching her suffering. She is extrememly jealous of Valanice because she is beautiful and popular, and Hagatha is not. In my story Hagatha was once beautiful but she was evil and cruel so the fairies put a curse on her that she would be as ugly on the outside as she was on the inside.

Uh not much really, just a tiny bit in the King's Quest Companion that says she was the Daughter of Prince Cedric of Kolyma, and Coignice, A miller's daughter.

But considering that info is obscure it may not even be part of KQ9's take on the King's Quest storyline.

Mind you + version takes many liberties and majorly changes the story, and certain characters.  Great game in its own right, and great story, but barely resembles the original KQ2.

Peter Spear really improved on the original KQ2 storyline though in the "King's Quest Companion". I highly recommend it if you can find it.

(grumbles) Well that is a bit naff, any good tyrant would know that simply eliminating your foe is a damn sight easier than imprisoning them!

Still, I like the "+" version for what it is!
