Hehe, well he's just modding the Demo forums for now.  Speaking of which, have you tried out the demo yet (with patch)? ???

;D

Nope! My computer isn't powerful enough to handle it. I'm stuck only reading other people's tales of it until I can get a more powerful computer.  :(

P4, 2 ghz and about 512 MB of ram. I come short in the graphics card department though, it won't run ANYTHING, it's a built in piece of.. garbage.  :suffer:

Hmm.. in that case, maybe you can figure out why the game won't work for Jesse. ;P  *hint: video card* ;D

Well, the system requirements for the TSL Demo are as follows:

Pentium III 500
Microsoft Windows XP
(Recommended), 2000 or 98SE
Microsoft .NET Framework 1.1 or higher
OpenGL compatible 3D video card
256MB of RAM
130MB of available disk space

Since your using a built-in video card, I'm going to assume your computer is using a motherboard that uses Intel Extreme2 Graphics, which is good for standard things like browsing the internet and whatnot, but lacks the ability to play 3D-based games like TSL.

Fortunately, you don't need a top-of-the-line video card to play TSL or most games these days (which means you don't need to spend $400-$500 USD):

CHAINTECH SE6600/256 Geforce 6600 256MB DDR PCI Express x16 Video Card - Retail (AGP-based)

PROLINK MVGA-NVG34P Geforce FX5200 128MB DDR PCI Video Card - Retail (PCI-based)

XFX PVT73EUDJ3 Geforce 7300GT 256MB GDDR2 PCI Express x16 Video Card - Retail (PCI-Express based)

All three of these cards are below $100 USD and will suit your gaming needs.

Other than the video card (or lack thereof in this case), your computer is perfectly fine for TSL.  :)

I know, I know. Thanks for the help though! I just can't afford any needless expenses right now, even one so important as enabling me to play TSL.  :-\

My life in a nutshell.. XD

Though I will look into those cards once I can afford any. So once again, thanks for the assistance. :)

lol - playing FFXI just means I'm a glutton for punishment and love dealing with a wide array of people.  :)

Thanks for the kind words though.

Merlin - no worries... I understand the boat your in.  Thankfully, the longer you can hold off on getting a video card the better.  With Windows Vista and DirectX 10 lurking around the corner, most market analysts are advising a wait-and-see approach, since both Nvidia and ATI are expected to start releasing their DirectX 10 cards here within then next couple of months (which means price drops on every other card out there).  So no worries my friend.  :)

Psst, our game doesn't use DirectX. :P

Yes Neil, I figured that out after the Voodoo Card thread.  However, you can't ignore DirectX.  DX10 is going to be packaged with Windows Vista after all.  :)

My comments to Merlin where more along the lines of good advice as well as some insight into what's going to be happening in the next couple of months in the video card sector.  The cards I pointed out that are less than $100 USD now are probably going to fall down to less than $60-$70 USD once the new DX10 cards start coming out... which means more savings on the consumer level.

He could also purchase anything online, it's a lot cheaper. No idea how it would work over there, but over here in the States it sure is cheaper to purchase it online or at ebay or such (avoiding scammy places, of course :P)
