Thanks Cat for your confidence. I'm still very nervous though, but it helps to know that someone else has faith in me.

The show is called FinnAddix, and we (me and my new roommate) spotlight music groups from Finland, and we will be on every Thursday at 5 pm eastern for an hour.
Not sure how the time zones work out for anything else, I just know that I was told 5 eastern which is 3 my time.

The listen server is constantly changing though.
So if any of you do try to tune in and it doesn't work drop me a line and I will try to get you an updated address.

I hope you are right about the nerves thing.
When I was working on the test thingamadooey for the show and playing around pretending like I was actually broadcasting I was nearly a wreck.

You'd think after co-Djing (is that a word ) on my older brothers show all of this would be second nature to me by now. but still it seemed all sorts of confusing when it wasn't his show any more.

Hopefully though all will be well. I keep telling myself that then when Thursday comes I will be convinced.

Oh, if you've done it before then it should all come back to you pretty quick.  You might be nervous for the first few minutes, but after that it'll become more and more natural. By the end of it, you'll be wondering how the time flew by so quickly!

  no unfortunately.

I wish it was downloadable, but right now its only available through streaming...and I guess a problem has been found and sometimes it has trouble opening through programs other than winamp.
If it isn't one thing its another... but I know some of my friends don't have winamp and have been able to listen just fine... so I guess it's just sort of touch and go at the moment.
Anyway... still trying to battle with nerves, but we tested again last night and it went pretty well.

Kay, now that I got that out of the way lol, can I just say that the first show was a lot of fun!
There were a few ups and downs at the beginning but me and my co-DJ and room mate were able to get everything straightened out.
Even though we were supposed to only be on for an hour, the station manager told us to keep going for as long as we'd like, so we ended up clocking right around 3 1/2 hours.
Next week he wants us to do a longer show again.

Though there is a lot of work we need to do to get ready for it so we can avoid some of the last minute craziness of today and so that we can get used to a new server.

We're still waiting to hear back with what our peak on listeners was, guess there has been some computer problems on the stations end, but I think we did alright....and I know that one of the members of one of the bands we featured was actually tuned in to the show, they were on msn with Blackrose for most of the show.

Anywho, just wanted to thank all of my friends here that were able to tune in, and say I hope you will again.

Been a while since I've been here, but life has been hectic lately.
Between all the ups and downs of trying to keep the radio show going, including losing the server for a bit, canceling one show at least and now having a new day and time, I've been beginning to wonder if its worth it to continue. Plus I have this feeling that I am starting to be phased out of the show a bit. So who knows...

Plus as some of you may know, I have a room mate, who happens to be my co-DJ and I'm not really going to get into that side of things much here, though some of you know how life with her has been as well.

Uhm anyway, I'm not going to be spinning for a bit, not been feeling my best and had enough dizzy spells without the aid of spinning round and round.
Anyway, if any of you are interested, there is now a new server and date and time for FinnAddix and since I am too lazy to type it all out, I will just copy and paste from the bulleton here, please excuse the shouting but Blackrose likes typing in caps.

HERE IS THE NEW SERVER TO LISTEN TO THE SHOW....http://s5.viastreaming.net/7700/ THE SERVER HAS BEEN UPGRADED AND THERE ARE SEVERAL WAYS TO LISTEN...WINAMP, MEDIA PLAYER, I-TUNES, QUICK TIME, REAL ONE PLAYER, AND VIDEO LAN PLAYER.


The new day and time is Sundays, 4 pm PST 7 pm EST. I have no idea how all of that works out to everyone elses time zones, I just know its at 5 my time.

Zelly is sad....


Because of company bigwigs, I may no longer have my radio show after next month.

They are trying to get rid of all internet broadcasting as a whole, or at least make us play loads and loads of money if we want to continue. According to something my boss at the station said, even if I wasn't going to play any music any more and just was going to talk on the air, I'd still have to pay 250.00 for everyone who tuned in to listen.
There is no way I can afford to do that. I don't know many people who can.

And even worse, from what I understand this isn't going to affect just internet radio, but any web-casting at all, so it includes sites like YouTube which my little sister lives for, and videos and things uploaded to myspace.
Basically anything that is uploaded for others to watch or listen to online by anyone who isn't part of one of the multi-million dollar companies. They don't understand that we are not getting paid for what we are doing. This has become an effort of love for everyone at my station at the very least, and it is not a cheap one for us to do, but we have still been hanging out with our listeners and playing music because we love doing it. If all of these laws go through it's all going to end.

The current cut off date is May 15th, but the head of FoxFM is going to keep all of us on air until May 31st, so that we have a chance to say goodbye.
This has been fought and fought inside of congress, and we are still fighting, but right now it looks bleak.
The sad thing is, through my show I have actually been in contact with a lot of bands personally that have asked us to play their music. Most of these bands are small and independent and no one else is willing to play them yet since they haven't made it big. And a lot of them have had a growing fan comunity that has gotten larger thanks to the fact that we have been playing them.

I know there is a lot of rules regarding political talk and everything on this forum, so if this post works out to be that, a mod can feel free to delete it. But I needed to get some of this out of my system so that I can at least try to enjoy what is left of my show if we should end up losing the battle.

  Sorry to hear the Zelly. It's definitely not fair and hopefully things will turn out ok. I don't know what they're thinking because they're not going to get much money from it because no one, ok Very few, can afford to pay that. It's just not right.

Terrible to hear that.
In the place where I live there is a pirate channel that's legal,
but they share it whit Germany because I live near that border.
From morning till afternoon they play many songs that no other company plays and afther the afternoon it's up for the germans music.

Then again if in your country it becomes illegal to play music whitout paying a ridiculous sum of money per year, some people will start do it in secret.

Whew....
Can't believe its been so long since I've been here. Well, actually I can but I just didn't realize just how long it had been.
A lot has changed in my life. The radio show went away. But for totally different reasons than what we thought might happen. A big part of it was the sudden realization that the people we were working for and with, were not only annoying, but were also quick to jump at the chance to gang up on anyone who didn't quite fit into their little clique.
Also, my life has become a great deal more hectic lately, and I just didn't have the time for giving the show the attention it and our listeners deserved.

I am back in school. *spins and does happy dance* So in January of 2009 I will have my degree in Graphic Arts.
It's taking a bit of getting used to, but all in all I am still having a lot of fun.
Though I still do not understand why, as I graphic artist, I need to have more knowledge of American History than I do already.

Anywho,
