(One of the many) KQ7 glitches hindering my progress

Does anyone know of a fix to this particular glitch?

I'm in Chapter 4 of King's Quest VII.  I have made it inside Malicia's house with no problems, acquired the device and put the clothes back in the drawer, taking the stocking with me.  I combined the stocking with the silver pellet to make a sling.

I'm now attempting to exit the house through the floorboard, but every time I do, Malicia shows up and gives her line about me being a "little vandal" before zapping me.

Is there any way past this, or will I have to restart the whole chapter again?  It's really quite annoying since I had been making great progress in the game, and it's frustrating that I'm getting killed for something that I haven't done wrong.  I've tried saving and quitting, and even exiting the programme entirely, and still no luck.

IIRC, the glitch is caused by forming the sling while in the house... again IIRC, the game checks to see if you have the stocking upon exiting (to check if you put the clothes away, je crois)... so, since you don't have the stocking, Malicia kills you.

IIRC, the only solution is to wait until you are outside to combine the silver pellet and the stocking.

I think I had to go through the same thing (replaying chapter 4 to avoid putting stocking and pellet together in the end) when last I played through KQVII.

Worse than any of that however is that the version of KQ7 we have crashes as Rosella exits the Were-Woods.

That kind of makes sense, actually.  And there I thought I was saving time!  Not a problem, I'll just have to replay again.  Boo.

The glitch that kills me is the dynamite one--it explodes every two seconds!  I counted 73 times it exploded before I finally made it to Lady Tsepish one time.

If you install the DOS version and run it with Dosbox, that clears up the dynamite bug.

Is this possible with the Windows XP version of the KQ Collection?  Just I know that's going to probably bug me if and when I get back to playing again (since I'll probably restart the entire game so I can give Valanice all of the crazy crap from the desert she doesn't need, haha).

I think the XP Collection took the cheap way and only has the Windows version, so I don't know if there's any way to dodge the glitch there besides using a program to slow down your computer.

What "crazy crap?"  You know that you can use either of the two things that Colin Farwalker offers you, right?   The rope is for tying between the cactuses (cacti? ) to catch the jackalope, and then you use the stick and torn cloth to create a flag, which distracts the giant scorpion. 

Unless you're talking about something I don't know about...

I mean stuff that she doesn't need outside of the desert level, such as the bug-reducing powder, and the ear of corn, haha.  Just to see what I can try with them.  I managed to hear a new line I'd not heard before by taking a pot of fresh water into the third chapter.

It was actually when I had to have a "vessel" to hold the sacred nectar; Valanice made some line about having to empty the water out first.  Nothing overly exciting, but it's always nice to hear lines that wouldn't be heard in a normal playthrough.

EDIT: Disregard glitch - it was just a misleading part of the game.

What I did see in terms of a glitch, which was quite interesting and I wish I'd recorded, was when I was playing as Rosella, and had just exited the Wood of the Werefolk into the Bountiful Woods.  I was trying to click on the right-hand side of the screen to go right (obviously) into Attis' screen, but for some reason, Rosella kept walking left.  She wouldn't enter the screen on the left (Wood of the Werefolk), but she flatly refused to go right!

I noticed that too!  I also have the XP Collection.  Weird, isn't it?  I wanted to go to the desert so that I could get some grains of salt (for the faux shop), but I absolutely could not make her go there.  And I don't think that the bridge was back yet, so I couldn't make her go the long way.  Sucky!

Yeah, I had to quit out of and restart the programme again.  It was just strange because I've seen plenty of other strange glitches, but not that one!

I was lucky - I only had to retry about 20 times.
