Hi folk!

I have some major problems running TSL - Episode 1.

I'm scarcely able to play for five minutes before the game frezees for a minute and than the program is closed by Windows.

I'm playing on a Windows 7 machine, I've installed the Windows 7 patch, I've run TSLConfig as an admnistrator and I'm obviously running the game itself as such.

Here's my specifics:

Intel Core i7 920 2.67 GHz (quad core)
6 GB RAM
ATI Radeon HD 5870
ASUS P6T SE motherboard

Your system specs more than exceed what is needed to play The Silver Lining.  When was the last time you updated your video card drivers?  Are you running a single video card or are you Crossfiring a pair of video cards?  Additionally, are you receiving an error message when the game is shut down by Windows, or does it just close down automatically?

I'm running a single video card, and no, Windows doesn't offer any useful information upon shutting down the game.

Does this happen in Fullscreen or Windowed Mode (or both) by chance?  Additionally, what are you doing (try to be as detailed as possible) when this happens.  Basically, run me through that 5 minute period where you are playing the game.

Have you checked the error log files?

It can happan at any given time. When I'm cycling through the icons, when I'm looking at something, when I'm simply standing about and moving the cursor around. I haven't tried it in windowed mode though.

@B'rrr: How can I check the error log files?

Hey Guys,
Same problem happening here too.  It freezes just at random points, and then minimizes to taskbar, and then windows asks to close the program saying it has failed.  This also happens whenever trying to save the game.  Upon reloading the game though, the safe game file seems to have been written, but the game simply freezes and crashes out immediately after having done so.  I'm a huge fan of the KK series but this sort of makes The Silver Lining unplayable.  Hope it gets fixed ASAP!  Thanks!

Roho can you post your system specs and let us know what resolution you're playing the game at?  We've seen some issues where the game was crashing on people when saving because they were playing at a higher resolution, so see if lowering the game resolution helps with that.

Game running in Administrator Mode
Game running in Win 7 and have not shifted to WinXP compatibility mode
Game resolution was 1366 x 768 32 bit, All details checked on and set to High
Crash on save in fullscreen mode. Went to save via coat of arms at top of screen.
Game never comes back from save routine. Game does successfully save file and work on relaunch.
Win 7 patch has NOT been applied yet.
All videos and sound work well.

Animan try playing the game and saving at a lower in-game resolution.  See if that helps.

Animan, in a configuration where the game's crashing when you save, could you hit Ctrl-P in-game to try to take a screenshot to see if it'll crash?  Also do you experience the same save crashing issue when running a 1366x768 resolution in windowed mode?

Closing this thread and moving it to Resolved Issues with the [NOT-FIXED] tag.  It's been a couple of days now with no updates on the status.
