[NOT-FIXED]Graphical in-game issues (Category: Graphics)

I'm having some problems with the graphics in the game. It's difficult to describe, but I took a couple of screenshots to illustrate the problem (it's a constant flickering, so two screenshots will never look the same). All menus, films etc in the game look normal, it's only the in-game graphics that seems to be affected. I've tried going between full-screen/windowed mode, lowering the resolution, lowering the details and turning on/off reflections etc, but nothing seems to work. Also tried to restart the computer, re-installing the game and even to update the graphic card drivers, but still no change. I have never had any problems with other games in the past, and just tried Oblivion, StarCraft etc again now and they still run as usual....

I'm lost. Any ideas from the developers?

Not sure if the cause is the same but the screen is just as distorted as yours, so worth the try for sure.

So you've tried adjusting all the configuration settings as low as possible and running the game in windowed at one of the lower settings correct?

And you are also running the game as an administrator right?

Yes, and just tried again with the omega drivers installed.

Did you also try the other suggestions from the linked thread about modifying the performance settings in catalyst or letting your computer cool for a bit before attempting a run with this game?  I don't normally have problems running games on my computer but I ran some high-end 3D games for a while to heat it up a bit and then went straight to Silver Lining and I got some weirdness similar to yours until I cooled the computer and rebooted.

We don't really have a list of supported or unsupported hardware at this time, and I don't know that we ever really will have that detailed of a list.  It's a non-commercial project, so the testing required to determine which cards it will or won't work with isn't really feasible.  I'll try to see if I can track down somebody with an x1400 video card and test it out to see if I can recreate the problem you've seen, but without seeing the same problem with the same card (or seeing it working with the same card on a different computer) it's difficult to say whether it's a game issue or a hardware issue.  Some internet research tells me that the i6400 hasn't received very good reviews as far as it's gaming capabilities so it might be a hardware issue.

The same applies to system requirements - it's running in 3D on the Torque engine so cards with dedicated video memory working that 3D certainly help, as does having more RAM, but we've gotten this game running on systems with pretty basic onboard video capabilities and only 1 GB of RAM.

Your computer certainly exceeds the specs of other systems that have been able to get it running, so in theory it should be able to handle the game.  I will keep looking to see if I can find any other suggestions to fix the problem you're experiencing, but all I can say for sure right now is that those screenshots look like screens I've seen with tired/overheated processors or video cards.  I'll let you know if I find anything more for you.

OK here's another suggestion you may take a shot at - completely uninstall your current driver and download and install the second newest one from Dell's website.  May not have any impact at all but it's certainly worth a shot - helped one person last night.

Thanks a lot for all your help wilco64256. I will try the other Dell driver tomorrow, and will post an update then.

Incidentally, I was at my parents house today and just for fun tried to install the game there on a computer that has to be around 8 years old by now (including the graphic card), and there it worked like a charm. If my own computer had been too old or too slow for the game it would have been one thing to accept (granted, it wasn't designed for gaming), but like you say since one does think the game *should* run with the hardware I have it all feels rather annoying!
