I opened the game up after insalling and watched the opening (which is great).  Now, when opening the game, it go direct to the menu.  :( Not sure if this is technical or the way the creators designed it.

Anyone else find this?

Thanks,

I believe the intro sequence is supposed to play continuously. If any of my fellow mods are reading this, should I move it to tech support or keep it where it is?

EDIT: Moved!

It's supposed to autoplay every time the game is launched, go ahead and pass it over to tech support so we can play with it.  AJ, do you still see the Torque splash screen with the power tool sound, or does it just jump straight to the game menu?  Note that it will skip if you're click the mouse at all, so I just want to make sure you're not doing something that is intended to skip the cinematic.

Yes I see the splash screen including sound.  Also should I post my PC specs?

I don't want to clog this tread up, but I thought I would mention that the opening shows at random start ups of the game.  ???  I have played around with the configuration settings with no luck.  I also noticed that when the cinematic doesn't play, the music in the menu screen is absent.

Thanks again,
AJBeals

So that's not the video card that came with the computer right?  What else have you swapped out that didn't come with the original system?

Also you could try going into the Catalyst Control Center and setting it to balanced if you currently have it set further to either quality or performance in the Standard Settings section.

For me, the opening cinematic didn't play with the game patched, but unpatched it's played every time.

No, I have Windows XP.  Nothing has changed other than Windows updates.  The control center was set at balanced.  I tried other settings with no luck. I'm not all that computer technical so I'm not sure what else to try.

Thanks anyway,

How about the sound card in your computer?  Is it still the original that came with it or have you replaced that as well?  Do you know the current driver version for that?

I'm not sure if you have tried this yet... but try uninstalling the game and reinstalling it to a location other than inside of the Program Files directory (which is where the installer wants to install the game).  For example, install it to C:\TSL.

I'm shooting blind here... but I don't see a reason for the game to only play the intro cinematic once.  There's no option in the game to my knowledge that turns that off.

I was thinking of reinstalling. I will try tonight or tomorrow.  The sound card is the original.

There is a slightly newer driver on the Dell website for that sound card, may help a bit but like oberon I'm taking blind shots and hoping to hit something.  I can't think of anything that would make the opening cinematic stop playing like this - the only thing that makes me think it may be sound related is how you mentioned that you don't get the music in the menu when this happens.

Thanks everyone!

I'm going to be really busy this week, so I'll check into the ideas folks have made, and post when I can.

Alrighty, I'm going to go ahead and close this thread for now, just open up a new one if you need more help later.  Good luck!
