I was so excited to play episode 2 and everything goes smoothly till i hit the market. Any time i go to the back corner and try to speak to the spider or read the notice board and the game goes sooooooo slow you think it has frozen.

Have tried the save and restore and that doesn't change anything.

Any ideas?

Can you post the specs on your computer for me?  Like what make and model it is (ie HP Pavilion dv7, etc.), how much RAM you have, what video card you have and how much video memory it has, etc.?  Thanks!

I have been having exactly the same problem. As soon as I enter the market everything goes slow and once i have had the false arm bitten by the spider and graeme pulls out his ingredients list the game locks up and shuts down. I have not had any problems in any other parts of the game. My computer is a Toshiba M110 Laptop.
It has an Intel 1.73 GHz Processor, 512 MB RAM, Intel GMA 950 graphics card with 64 MB Memory.

That memory amount for the graphics card is what's causing the issue for you (and probably the first user as well).  The game requires a good deal more than that to run smoothly, so really the only things I can recommend are visiting Toshiba's website to download their most current video driver, and lowering the game's graphics options to run in a window with low detail level.

This.  I have the same problems on my laptop with similar specs.

On my desktop with 1GB ram, 3ghz pentium 4, and an nvidia fx5200 pci graphics card it runs pretty much flawlessly for me on both windows xp mce and arch linux through wine.  I don't really know what the minimum (ideal) specs are, because other than my laptop, I don't have a variety of crappy computers to test it on.  Basically though, I think you are out of luck and will have totry to find a better computer to play it on.
