Good luck. My roomie has far about me more to go on than just web forum posts, and I still puzzle the Hell out of him.

Isn't it better to type '... has far more about me to go on...' than the order you used? Besides, I can live on the tidbits you give me, especially since you're only my virtual lovely one, me moving to where you live is not an option, at least not at the moment, and probably not anywhere in the future either. And you moving to where I live is probably not going to happen either.

It wasn't the structure I found weird, it was the address itself, like the place names. Yeah, all foreign languages look odd to a non-native-speaker, but that particular one is really out there. Looks kind of like it was generated by a cat walking over a keyboard.

In yet another tangent, trying to keep calendar date formats straight in a company that deals interminglely with records from US and overseas companies can also be a mind trip.

Ay, calendar dates, remember, mainland Europe (at least Western mainland) it's dd/mm/yyyy.

I was addressing my suggestion to Sir Dot-a-lot, not any of the mods. If he really wants to start a rhyme game (but he obviously does not) he should start another thread.

Eeee... yes. I blame a brain blip. Actually, I made in initital brain blip in structure, which I caught, but then I obviously didn't fix it completely, and just made another brain blip, which I didn't catch. Blip, blip, blip, blip.

Heh. Well, I wouldn't particularly want to wish moving to the US on anyone right now, what with all the political goofiness, and our terrible job situation. And don't feel offended about me not moving out there... I don't see myself moving much of *anywhere* out of the country. As annoyed as I am with the US right now, I'm not aware of any other country's political clime that would make me feel at ease, either. Plus I've never been very good at learning or pronouncing foreign languages. (Heck, I sometimes stumble over pronouncing *English*. ) Plus I'm rather used to the way I do things, so getting used to a different culture would be difficult too. I maybe could survive in Canada without an intolerable amount of grief, but that's about it. (BTW, anyone want to offer notes on moving to/living in Canada in case Bush gets re-elected? ) Not that any other country would want to take someone who has only a GED, very little money, and whose only job experience is in ringing register and being a glorified file clerk/odd job office girl. (On second thought, forget the Canada notes. I'm stuck here.)

Which is why I have nothing but respect for people who move here to the US from other countries and make a life for themselves... I know I could never do the opposite. Heck, I don't think I'd even want to go through the hassle of vacationing in a foreign country. OK, so I'm lazy and pessimistic.

(Actually, it's the length added to the unfamiliarity that's a bit confusing... I tend to make up for my lack of touch-typing ability by memorizing bits of what I'm typing so I can concentrate more on the keyboard/screen instead of the document, and thus keep my speed up.)

Hee. Well, I am familiar with the different overseas conventions, it's just that switching between the two is tricky. It slows things down a bit because it necessitates constantly scrutinizing the dates and addresses. (As opposed to my (IMHO) speciality, which is figuring out the optimum pattern-recognition sequence to sort and process info most efficiently. Unfortunately that requires a certain set of info to have a vaguely standard and consistent format, at least.)

I had another dream - Oldbushie came over and asked me to make something for this game he was working on - a page written in Gibberish, that was supposed to look like it came out of a prayerbook. I told him something like "I'll see what I can do" (I could remember the exact phrase when I woke up... but not anymore ) but I was already picturing to myself how it would look, and what fonts/pics I'll use for it

HAHAHAHA, omg, I have to admit I've never even dreamed with kq9 at all, what does happens to me though its that I do always carry around this small agenda with me where I happen to write a lot of stuff to do (just to keep track or just not forget things to do) and hahaha usually its always kq9 work , the entire list used to be like 40% my stuff and 60% work , so even if I wanted to I cant forget about kq9

Not offended. I'll just adore you from afar. BTW, if you don't mind my accent, my pronounciation of the English language is perfect. Ofcourse, everyone stumbles over their own words now and then, even I do.

Heh, not like I do! My problem is that I'm a voracious reader, and thus most of my vocabulary was picked up from books. So there are a lot of long words that I know the meaning of and tend to think in, but I've never actually heard them pronounced, and I somehow almost always manage to guess wrong.

My roomie has teased me on numerous occasions that I can pull off being classy and eloquent and dignified very well... until I ruin it by mangling a word or ten, that is.

You can't type blind (not look at your keyboard at all when typing and just 'feel' when you've hit the wrong key, even before it shows on the screen, as it is doing now on this forum with me typing this post)?

Mmm. I can, and do, type "blind" for short periods of time. But since I don't use the "home row" method, but rather what my roomie likes to call "advanced hunt and peck", my hands sort of travel back and forth all over the keyboard while I'm typing. So while I do have a general idea where the keys are in relation to each other, I need to glance down on a regular basis to see where my fingers currently are in relation to the keys, if that makes sense. The end result is that to stay fast and accurate I need either divide my time between the document and the keys, or the screen and the keys, with occasional document glances for the next "memory block" to type. I prefer the latter, since it means I don't have to do as much double-checking.

Yeah the blind typing thing is pretty funny.  I don't look at the keyboard when I type but there are sometimes when I'm talking to someone and my hand is off by one.  For example, typing ;p; instead of lol.  The funniest is when I typed an actual sentence in such a rush and the person was so confused.

It was something like: "jsjsjsj ursj o lmpe" instead of "hahaha yeah i know".

I more or less learned typing without home keys and by looking at the keyboard. So now I type more or less with two fingers on each hand, and occassionally glancing at the keyboard.  Honestly, IM and email have made me able to not look at the keyboard and be about 97% accurate.  And I usually can tell if I've typed something wrong without looking at it, honestly!  Just kinda knowing I hit the wrong key.

I can do blind typing... not that well though  
I timed it once and did about 40 word per minute - that was in hebrew, I never timed how much I do in english. However, I can type without looking at the screen and I know when I make mistakes - I make quite a lot of them, especially when trying to write fast

I do the "shift by one" thing too... it often happens when I'm not looking at the screen and write an entire sentence like that

Well, now, see? You can pay only $1.95 more for an ISP that doesn't boot you after 5 hours. Sounds like a good deal to me. Prolly gets better connection speed, too... I think I usually can d/l more than 30MB in 4 hours. (I think I remember it taking about 8 hours to d/l 100MB.)

Sorry, I just like to pimp my ISP whenever I can.
