Hey everyone,

I've now switched from Freenode to the Deviantart IRC server, since Freenode disallows private messaging from people that don't have registered nicknames (which would really cause problems during the event).

So, the settings are now:

Server: irc.deviantart.net
Port: 6667
Channel: #tsl-game

And the Test page has now been updated to use that server and port, so please verify that the client works for you now and allow the port on your firewall (if necessary).

Yes.  I'll most likely be opening it 10 or 15 minutes early for people to set their nicknames and stuff.  However, no questions will be answered during this time.

Even though everything seems to be working, I don't trust my browser's Java, so I added the server&channel in my chatzilla and when I tried to join I got this:

Awesome!  Yes, the channel will be open on the 30th, but not any time sooner.

I've got alarms set everywhere I can think of, so unless something extraordinary happens on or before that day/time, I should be able to remember it.

This is relatively relevant, but can anyone help me? Both my mIRC and the chat applet say "Software caused connection abort." This happens with every server I try. I don't want to miss this!

It's probably your firewall.  Try disabling it and retrying.

If that still doesn't work and you are on a home network, switch to a different computer, or plug your network card directly to your modem.

Well, it works on a different computer, but I still feel like it should work on my laptop...

Ok.  I found the source of those of you that may get that error.  It's McAfee VirusScan pretending to be a firewall. Here's the fix:

Open VirusScan Console.
Double click the "Access Protection" Task.
Uncheck the "Prevent IRC Communication".
