PAX East is a yearly gaming festival held in Boston. Created in 2010, it has been hailed as a celebration of gaming culture and quickly made a name itself through its keynote speeches, panels on game topics, tournaments and more. With this year’s PAX East merely a week away, Phoenix Online Studios and Infamous Quests will will not only be available for interviews, but are also appearing on a Sunday panel! On Sunday at 1:30 PM in the Bumblebee Theatre, our very own Katie Hallahan and Infamous Quests’ co-founder, Steve Alexander will be panelists for “Reboot Our Roots: Bringing Our Favorite Games Back to Life”, along with other prominent indie adventure game developers. The panel seeks to answer the following question:“Many of today’s indie games are spiritual successors of yesteryear’s hits, from King’s Quest to Gabriel Knight to Quest for Glory—with some even being developed by the same teams that brought us the originals. What’s it like to reboot a franchise or genre after 30 years? How do you update a classic while staying true to the original? Industry veterans share their stories of revisiting their roots, taking up their heroes’ mantles, and what they’ve learned in the intervening years.” We will also be available for interviews, discussing not just previously launched games such as Gabriel Knight Sins of the Fathers - 20th Anniversary Edition and Quest for Infamy, but also new, unannounced projects.Time slots are available throughout the show weekend. If you’d like to schedule an appointment, you can reserve time here.
