Vivendi's shutdown of KQIX was recently mentioned on the gaming blog Kotaku (http://www.kotaku.com. I can't seem to find a way to link to the specific post, but it's currently on the fourth page of the site.
Once the votes are read, the decision is final. The person voted out will be asked to leave the Tribal Council area immediately. I'll read the votes...

POS won't post any official info untill they're allowed to, they won't keep a track about what's going on due to only Directors handle this information, so, they're too busy trying to figure out what to do and how to handle this instead of just posting about it. And, as final, who is going to pay the attorney? it's all too easy to tell them what to do when you're not on their shoes, it'd take a lot of money just to even consider to purchase the rights of KQ just for one game (KQIX in this situation), I do know how much they all appreciate the effort (for those who are actively participating in petitions, letters and whatnot) but do understand this is a bad time to start asking things from them, instead, support them with some patience (sp?) for now, as soon as they can speak up what's going on, they will let us know :)

there was a fan mod project that had an agreement with VU
when they proposed to make a standalone game VU went along with it
same as KQIX, its being made with the torque engine
as far as i know, the singleplayer portion will be sold commercially
and the multiplayer will be available free for download
the group making is still volunteer and does not expect payment

just thought it might be of interest to you
i was looking forward to this game...sigh

I am pretty sure that they [POS] will respond eventually and I do understand they might be having busy days by now...

But I'm pretty sure that some of us would like to know if what we say in here is took under consideration or we better only support them "silently"...

Actually, a lot of what was suggested in this thread was already taken into consideration before we even made the announcement official.

We will let everyone know once there is important news to announce.  In the mean time, we value and appreciate your support. :)

Please POS please make a note of this if you haven't already!  This is a perfect example of what you guys should do.  It would be priceless to mention this in a negotiation meeting.

I wonder if Vivendi would be interested in purchasing KQIX from the team so that all of the efforts would not be lost?  Seems like a worthy project such as this has the potential for a win-win....

Without them making a deal, I think not!

Hey, on the VU Forum's mod's comment, what is this referring to?

"There was a hope in the past that Phoenix Online could come to an agreement with Vivendi once the project was finished to have it marketed, but at this point that is a dim hope. "

Were they making a deal before that didn't work out?

i don't know for sure the answer to this question - i only found you guys a few days ago - but as was mentioned recently, the mod's comment on vivendi not knowing about kqix is obviously not completely true, which suggests the possibility that either the mod is bsing us, or, more likely, the mod his/herself is being bs'ed.  in either case, the mod's comments' credibility take a severe blow, and in short i'm not positive they're worth worrying much about (aside from the fact they're gonna ban ppl who keep talking about kqix on their forums).

of course, a definite yes or no answer is still appreciated, if anyone knows    ;D

The comentary of Tinuviel many people are comenting has a big mistake:

QuoteVivendi representatives recently explained they chose to shut down the fan project of KQIX now because they just learned of it.
Translation: They have JUST known about the project so that's why they shut down it.

QuoteThere was a hope in the past that Phoenix Online could come to an agreement with Vivendi once the project was finished to have it marketed, but at this point that is a dim hope.
Question acording with the first translation: What they think is "PAST"? Maybe KQ series is, for them, near to the extiction of the dinosaurs....

BUT, thanks Tinuviel for post also the way to show our dissagrement.

That's interesting......
I wonder if Tinuviel noticed the contridictions (sp) in the post???
Oh well even if it wasn't it will be now. I saved a copy just in case it get's changed though. I also get some sort of sick enjoyment out of finding mistakes like this. Thanx franzroger for spotting that. I gave me a li'l chuckle to read over it again.

QuoteSooo.... does anyone know any good games that Vivendi has made?
I think they made Metal Arms: Glitch in the System, a fun third person shooter. Other than that I like the games that Blizzard produces, such as Command and Conquer.

Anyone get any responses yet?  I've sent 2 e-mails (about a week apart) and they haven't answered. MAybe we should just send emails that have the subject KQIX and give links to other websites and things. That way if they just look at them they'll think that they know what they're talking about but if they actually do look inside then they'll see a link to some SAVE KQIX site.

I don't envy Tinuviel's position right now. She is a long-time fan of the old Sierra games (I've known her on those boards for several years, so trust me on this, please), and as she is a mod, she is effectively a company representative and she has rules and guidelines to abide by, which can be trying in a situation such as this. VU have provided her with information regarding their position on the whole issue and she is merely relaying that information to people, so I sincerely doubt she has made deliberate contradictions in her statements (she is not the sort of person who would do that). And I remember some excessively harsh posts were made before the thread was nixed, so that probably upset her (to the point of threatening to ban people if it's brought up again). I know I wouldn't appreciate abuse being hurled at me.

Personally, I think VU's legal department has a few monkeyspankers for not knowing about this 4 years ago, but that's just my opinion. I just don't want Tinuviel being attacked for having to do her job, despite how she may actually feel about the situation. And to be honest, I will be personally upset at anyone who has a go at her, as she is merely a messenger.

Just my $0.02.

I'm pretty sure they knew about it...but just want to say that they didn't and that's why they nixed the project now.

Skyshark,

Well, I never meant anything about her, per se, but about what she said, truth is, as I said I don't envy her one tiny little bit either  :-X
And my whole point to it as that... I seriously just think it's a lot of nothing what that information was about, wether she posted it or someone else had, if you know what I mean.

I know, Say. It's just that I tend to be a tad defensive with people that I've known for some time and whom I care about (a lot of us from there are fairly close, like a family of sorts, so you can imagine how I and the rest of us would feel if one of us is being targeted unfairly). And what I said was aimed at people who think she's bsing (pretty much due to a recent comment that sparked it).
