The Save KQIX site is almost finished. Don't expect anything too huge though, it's basically just a page with information on how to support KQIX with solutions on what to do, and other things such as images you can add to your signature.

I'd like a few suggestions on what you'd like to see on it though, what you think should be added.

Just make sure you have the petition up :P

I just sent my email to Vivendi. I hopped on the site last night only to see that this project is being shut down. Hang in there everyone, get the word out and hopefully we will prevail.
Hmmm, how about signing a petition? Click on the link in my signature to find out how :) Thanks.

So sad to read this news! :'(
I was really looking forward to the first installment of kqix. It even made me sign up on your forums. That probably won't make much of a difference but Koko might be interested to know that her petition is only visible to registered users. I hope you can get it up at a place for guests too, perhaps that will give you some extra signatures. I hope so anyway.
Good luck and my sympathies to all the hard working kqix developers. I hope your work will not have been in vain!

KOKO, I've just send you my pepition.
I hope that there will be enough to confince vivendi that they shouldn't stop this project.
Many thanks for the petition on the site.

Geez the mods at VUgames forums are pissy.  They said they are going to ban anyone starting a topic or posting on one about kq9 being closed.  They say it's because you aren't allowed to talk about fan games on the forums, but the fact is this is more about VUgames development decisions.  I understand banning people that are over the edge (cussing out vivendi and such), but threatening anybody that is upset about kq9 (even in a respectful way) is not a good way to get rid of hostile feeling in the community.

Erpy

Heh, if I locked a topic and someone would make an attempt to nullify my action by immediately posting a continuation topic, I'd be pissed too.

Whether it's about a fan-game or about an action regarding said fan-game, its the result and not the semantics that are being taken into account here. The project IS being discussed. Links to this forum ARE being posted. Of course the discussion is about KQ9. The mods respectfully asked to contact VU through email. If people disregard that, than what other option is there?

I've known the mods at those forums for quite a while and they're all mature people and long-time fans of the Sierra classics who bear no ill-will towards this project, but at the same time, have responsibilities they have to keep into account. I don't envy their position right now...

Okay, I have sent a petition to the head of a production company and requested that he send a business email to Vivendi. I talked to him this morning, and he is going to request that Vivendi market KQIX. Hopefully his prominent position will affect the VU.

Wow Lollotte! That sounds wonderful!

Hmm, I'm sorry that only registered users can see the petition. I guess the only way to fix that without getting the team involved (since they're not allowed to be involved...this is strictly a fan gathering) is for everyone who wants to sign the petition but can't get it to email me. Unless Broomie can put the actual petition on his site.

Broomie, let me know if you want me to send you the .doc format for the site!

Not to worry everyone, I'll take care of it.  Just send me the source code and project files, and I'll make sure to get it developed and distributed.  We here at VU/Sierra like to give the fans what they want.

This is terrible news.

I really thought a dream was coming true. I expected careers to take off and soar to new heights as justified recognition was given to this fantastic team. Vivendi has effectively eliminated all of its goodwill in this shameless act.

I give my deepest condolences to the all the programmers and artists that worked so hard for all of us without any monetary gain. For so many to selflessly pour their hearts and souls in this project over the time span of years tells me that this team is one of the greatest on earth consisting of some of the best people on earth. This team has managed to gain a greater asset than Vivendi will ever be able to have, and that is goodwill and fans for life.

As fans we are all obligated to do our absolute best to help this team in any way we can even if it is in vain. For even our best efforts are but a small fraction of what these people have already done and sacrificed for us only to be voided. Please, do what you can, no matter how hopeless or trivial it may seem. Write formal letters to VU, join koko's initiative and sign the petition, E-mail VU with your concern, anything your willing to do at all. You are the strongest influence left, the greatest hope for the dream.

I look forward to seeing inevitable failure VU. I hope top management will step down with this incredibly effective act of eliminating customers for life or start to think about whether they want to file chapter 7 or chapter 11.

Thank you to the entire team who worked so hard for a dream. Thank you is meaningless without telling how you helped, but you have helped in so many ways a ten page essay couldn't hold it all. Really, thank you all for what you’ve done.

Deloria

Lolotte, that's wonderful news. Are you happy enough to lift the chocolate and coffee ban from the Asylum?

If Vivendi were to go bankrupt, I can only assume that KQIX would start up again, wouldn't it?

Here's my email to Vivendi:

To Whom This May Concern:

As a devoted King's Quest fan, I urge you at Vivendi Universal to reconsider your decision to shut down the Unofficial KQIX project. There are other alternatives available where legality is concerned, and I hope you will strongly  consider marketing the KQIX yourself. This would be a wise move because the technical and creative quality of KQIX is superb, and if associated with Vivendi, I am positive this game would make VU well respected in the adventure gaming community once again.

Please, this cease & desist order has ravaged the community of KQ fans. People have vowed never to buy another game from Vivendi; we are sure there are other ways of handling this situation. All I ask is that you keep an open mind and come to a positive agreement with the KQIX development team about the release of this amazing game. Thank you for your consideration.

It's nothing huge, but it's just a few things you can do to support KQIX. Images in signatures, emailing Vivendi, signing the petition.

Oh and I made that Flash file myself. :)

Flubly

Um, I believe the game is King's quest 9 not 11 (IX not XI)

pcj

Nice work...but if you're going to be providing the "...and support it's continuation" quote, you might want to change it to "...and support its continuation"   :D

Oops, I noticed that earliar. Must have forgotten to upload it. It's uploading now so it should fix soon.

I'll fix the other errors aswell.

GunHoMac

I respect your work and effort for the "Save KQIX" flash banner, but you really can't be taken seriously when it involves grammar/spelling errors....and most notably...you get the name of the game wrong itself.
