Great! Can I get your E-mail address? :)

I think Koko is mailing the letters, but this is for writing the letters so they are in proper format and style. It can be written like a letter you'd send to a friend, but there is a particular way letters are supposed to be made depending on who and what you're sending to increase effectiveness. This is a template and rough draft for a persuasive letter written to an organization.

I'm not a writer, so perhaps someone with expertise in that field could do a better job. If so, that would be awesome.I think it is important our letters look profesional and it is not hard to do. My hopes are that with the collective resources of Koko's petition, VU's E-mail, and VU's snail-mail address + template + example might motivate some people to do what they can. Especially if all the details of this stuff can be located in place such as a website.

I have created this thread on GameDev.net

http://www.gamedev.net/community/forums/topic.asp?whichpage=3&pagesize=25&topic_id=350921

in your defense, and I am working to pioneer a set of practices that will hopefully make (near-dead derivitive IP works) more common.

I am currently planning to have our game Morning's Wrath www.morningswrath.com, adhear to this once it has been fully fleshed out.

Thought you all would like to know.

I appreciate those of you that are trying to formulate a petition, but it is a little unerving to send you a scaned copy containing my signature.  I realize that you may not have thought about this, but by sending a scan copy of my signature, it is TOO EASY to copy the signature using copy and paste.  I guess I am just a little bit paranoid about doing this with all of the identy theft that is going on over the internet.  I hope you understand.  If you would like me to print out the petition, sign it and mail it to you, I would be much more comfortable with that.  (Although I guess it is 6 of one 1/2 dozen of the other.  If you really wanted an electonic copy of my signature, all that you would have to do is scan the hard copy.)  :(  I'm not sure what to do . . . but I DO want to help.

Say

Sarcrain,

Then talk to Koko yourself! :D Ask her for the REAL mail address and YOU send it, no in-betweens, only you and Vivendi :) Better? :)

BTW EDI,

I just finished reading all the posts over there, it's truly interesting and the discussion goes further than "Vivendi sucks" into something so much more elaborated regarding IP. I am not registered in those forums but I believe I must state something clear, as a former member of this group I have to say that Ken and Roberta didn't "approve" it, as some of the discussion went through, they were happy and pleased to be communicated about the situation of the project, as well as KQIX took in consideration all their comments and thoughts, from a creative point of view, much more likely they gave us a thumb up about it, but they did not "legally approved" or whatever, I repeat... under NO circumstances said or stated any legal approval or whatnot, obviously they don't have it themselves so that's one of the main reasons why they didn't want to get involved further on it.

I just had to state that clear, Ken and Roberta have been quite great with the team, but under no circumstances they should get involved in whatever happens with VU because it's not their fault, desition or whatnot. It's ours (the team's).

Jesse, I was. That's why I even bother to reply with solutions in the best way possible, which is what I did, if this person wouldn't want to send it to Koko for -whatever. reason, the best solution is for do it on it's own, what is supposed to be offensive about that? Koko has the address otherwise I would have already posted it.

Thanks Say,

I belive I made that clear on a few occasions in the thread.

It seemed to boil down to:

"They thought it was good, but they had no legal say in it anyway."

Since the IP belongs to VU I don't see how they could give 'legal approval', from a moral standpoint however Roberta is the IP creator, of course, morality and 4.95 will get you a venti mocha at starbucks (price might be of  ;D)

So i think that is cleared up, I will make sure to dispell any re-occurances of it popping up.

And the other thread is locked!

It's just that I respect Ken and Roberta for being the creators, and it feels so wrong that they'd get accused of things like that because they were completly clear about that when we contacted them and such, you know what I mean anyhow, thanks for creating that thread and supporting the team as well :)

Seems to have hit a cold spot for the moment.

The problem I see is that people are trying to come up with a blanket rule that applies to all things.

I think that IP (even to go as far as Game-IP) should be considered as partialy public domain (especially considering how far companies go to make you love it (push-marketing, yech!)), and especially if it is inactive after a certain amount of time, 10 years seems fair.

What happened to the KQIX project seems to be a blanket response to the problem, which is common of a mega-corp  :-\
what I proposed in my write-up, isn't likely to change anything initially but if it gets accepted by the indie community and used often, it could act as a segway to making a more standard interface for Fan-Creations.

Anyhow, again, sorry things went like they did =/
